Cairngorms Easter Trip
April 19, 2019 - April 22, 2019
It’s that time of year again folks…it’s the GMBC Easter Extravaganza!!
Over the last few weeks, we looked at a few different destinations and venues but quickly realised places were booking up fast and also a tad more expensive than usual. This is by far the biggest and largest subscribed club trip we do every year, so we had to find a place that could accommodate the potential for 20+ folk.
We have decided to revisit the Cairngorms; there’s loads of trails, varied riding from epic mountain paths with some extreme exposure, gnarly enduro trails to sweet flowing forest singletrack, café stops and a refreshing cold pint knowing that you’ve earned it. And of course, it’s all about the bikes and the banter!
As it’s a 3 night stay, you actually have the option for 4 days of riding. If you wish, you can arrive Friday early get a ride in, Saturday and Sunday big days out, and if you or your bike isn’t broken by then, a Monday recovery ride.
It’ll be a large group with the potential to split the ride into easier/harder/more suffering/less suffering options. We can plan that nearer the time and it’s usually done around the table on the Friday night with alcohol involved.
We have decided to revisit a place we have stayed before, due to it being able to accommodate a large group, decent beds, cooking facilities and a drying room that actually works. There is also a hose for bike washing.
The committee will bring communal supplies – milk, bread, tea, coffee, porridge and fruit. We’ll aim to have a communal group meal one evening (on the club) and group meal out on the other (Sat/Sun, which order still to be decided). Please be self sufficient for your dinner on the Friday night.
Dates: Friday 19th, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st April
Venue: Ardenbeg Bunkhouse, Grantown on Spey
Cost: £75 (3 nights at £25)
How to Book – THE IMPORTANT BIT AND THE SMALL PRINT
We are limited to 23 places and it is first come first served. There has already been an initial post on Facebook looking for a show of hands to get an idea of numbers. Going by the comments and a few messages I have received, over half of those places will be snapped up immediately.
Here’s the small print; Being a paid up club member gives you priority access to the available places. If you have not yet paid your membership fee (see this post for further information http://www.gmbc.org.uk/2019-
Paying your membership fee gives you benefits, one of them; access to club trips. Not going into any great detail, but there was an event last year, oversubscribed and some folk weren’t official club members, we took some flack for that. I don’t want a repeat of that this year, so we’ll will be monitoring this one closely.

Thank you and I’m looking forward to seeing you there.
