DESCRIPTION:Website blurb:\nThe event is about circumnavigating Ben Nevis starting from Fort William the Outdoor\nCapital of the UK. It is a 72km journey of discovery about our wonderful environment\,\nabout yourself and for some\, we have no doubt\, about your bike. It is a stage race where the aim is to gather points throughout the course and\, for those at the front\, it can be a very tactical race!\nIt is an opportunity to ride through some of the most rugged and isolated areas that the\nScottish Highlands have to offer. The course is undulating and varied with river and stream\ncrossings\, climbs and long descents. \nThis is one of the country’s longest point to point events. The course has been described as\nMTB Endurance and a Mountain Marathon race all rolled into one. It is tough; but it is\nachievable. \nHowever\, we stress this is more of an event than a race. Those that are super fit and want to\nrace hard will not be disappointed and the special timed sections will spice it up a bit and\nreally bring out the competitors from within. Those who see this as a major personal\nchallenge will be able to pace themselves and enjoy the adventure and wilderness\nof this remote area. \nThe course will not be littered with signage and support people\, it will be left as untouched\nas possible to allow you to enjoy this environment in its natural state. With this comes some\npersonal responsibility\, which is a big part of the event ethos. We are taking the bubblewrapping\naway and letting you take on this event knowing that you will need motivation and\ntenacity to get to the finish line.

DESCRIPTION:Hi All\,\n\n\nLooks like the date for the next pub run is set for 21st Sept\, a Saturday.\nThe ride meets at Stewart St car park at 10am.\nIn loose terms\, we take in the Carbeth Inn\, Kirkhouse Inn Strathblane\, Swan Inn Lennoxtown\, Kincaid House Hotel\, The Stables & Wheatsheaf at Torrance.\nAll this if time allows.\nThe ride is approximately 30 miles long and generally lasts until about 7pm.\nJoin us for all or part of the ride and drop in or out to suit yourself and partner/friend/wife .\nHaving an alcoholic drink\, at each stop\, is not compulsory\, the pubs also sell tea\, coffee and soft drinks.\nIn previous years this has been an extremely enjoyable ride for all who participated\, so don’t be shy\, keep this date free in your diary and join us for this fantastic club event. \nRegards\n\nPub Committee\n\nps As always the weather will dictate whether the event goes ahead or not. SUMMARY:Balloch To Strathblane:  Social Ride
DESCRIPTION:I plan on joining the GMBC pub ride\, (assuming the weather doesn’t postpone it) hopefully at Strathblane but instead of riding out of Milngavie and going via Carbeth I’ll be taking the train from Partick and starting from Balloch and going via Killearn. \nNothing technical\, will be on my CX bike.  I’m aiming to be on the 09:29 train from Partick\, riding from Balloch 10:15\, leisurely pace along a mix of quiet country roads\, dirt tracks and fields to Strathblane\, if we’re ahead of schedule then hopefully there’s time for a cuppa in Killearn before reaching Strathblane about 12:15 to meet up with the rest of the social riders.  If you’re interested then let me know to expect you or get in touch using my details on the Members page.
