SUMMARY:Postponed: Away Ride - Pitlochry
DESCRIPTION:Update: I’m suggesting to postpone this ride and I’m planning to tie in with Graham’s ride from Arrochar. the Arrochar route is much better surfaced and better suited to minging weather. I’ve done the Pitlochry ride in a variety of conditions and I reckon we could have the unholy trinity of lashing rain\, slushy snow and high winds this weekend. It’s a great loop but a lot better in frosty conditions or after fresh snow. I’ll post it up for the following month. \nMeet up at Escape Route at 10am. \nWe can decide on the route depending on the conditions\, however my initial plan is: \nHead up around Loch Bhac\, or some variation on that loop. It’s a fantastic ride with a great mixture of trails. The route starts off in the wooded valleys before climbing up to a wee loch (Loch Bhac). There’s then a section across open moors with great views to Cairngorms and Perthshire hills. It’s a fairly long ride (60ish km)\, so requires reasonable fitness. There are some singletrack section but overall the riding isn’t technically difficult. \nAny question please ask. \n

SUMMARY:Arrochar Alps - Coire Grogain
DESCRIPTION:As an alternative to the excellent Pitlochry ride (as I can’t be out too long on Saturday) here’s a classic mountain bike route that should be beginner friendly for the vast majority of it’s 20km loop. \nIt starts from the car park at the head of Loch Long in Arrochar and heads up into the hills on fireroad.  There’s a short river crossing at one point and some great singletrack to descend back to the car park.  The singletrack return would be mainly rideable for beginners\, from memory there are a couple of bits that are a little steeper and rockier but generally it’s fine. \nUsual stuff:  take food & drink\, pack spares\, wear clothing for being outdoors on the bike  and no helmet no ride.  Current forecast is for showers. \nPost up or email me if you’re interested.
