Week day evenings

The club meets formally on Wednesday evenings at St Andrews Church Hall, Milngavie. Click here for Google Maps link. Milngavie is situated 6 miles north-east of Glasgow city centre so is easily ridden from the West End and City Centre. The hall also has a car park and Milngavie train station is 2 minutes across the Precinct.

Wednesday rides start at 19:45 so please be there ready to ride for 19:30 to allow for the obligatory faffing.

Rides are generally around Mugdock Country Park and out toward Strathblane (longer and more varied in Summer months) and last around 2 – 3 hours*.

Afterwards we return to the club hall to use the bike wash and get a cup of tea!

There is also an informal Tuesday night ride, meeting at the same place and starting at 7pm - a more mellow flavour!

Week day rides are a great start for new members as they will introduce you to club members and give you a glimpse of the type of cycling the club gets involved in. There is no need to be a member for the first few rides so feel free to come along and see if the club is for you.
Please drop us a line before your first ride so that we can tell you more.

All rides are generally arranged through the club email. Send a mail to this address to join it.

* Remember to bring lights for evening rides from September through May.

Sundays
On Sundays the club tradition is to undertake a longer ride away from Glasgow area. Previous Sunday rides have been varied from playing at Glentress and Innerleithen to classic routes through Pitlochry and Dunkeld to technical challenges such as the Devils Staircase and Ben Lomond.

Have a look at the Rides section to see where we’ve been recently, and the calendar section to see where is proposed in the near future.

In most cases the ride will last for the best part of the day and as a rule of thumb you should aim to be at the meet point for 10:00am ready prepared with bike, equipment and food!

Most Sundays there is also an ad hoc local ride from St Andrews Church Hall. It is best to use the mailing list to find out who intends to be out when.

Ad Hoc
The GMBC mailing list is a great way of organising rides on other days of the week.

Weekends Away
Throughout the year the club organises weekends away and has in the past year had weekend trips to Aviemore, Skye, the Black Isle, Mabie & the 7Stanes and the Lake District.

Accommodation for these weekends in generally campsites or bunkhouses and are generally a good opportunity for club members to meet up and party.
