John, unfortunately I can’t make it. A pity, as I had my excuses ready:
“My winter bike is too heavy”
“I pied too much at Christmas”
“it’s winter”
“My flappy winter clothing slowed me down”
Just a note about the roads – the Khyber and the climb past snakey aren’t priority gritted roads. I was out there Monday evening and although it wasn’t that cold (4 degrees in Glasgow) during the day by early evening it was total ice at the top of the climb.
Totally take on board what you say about the weather and the temperature – but by the 28th we could be in a heat wave, or a wetsuit, so unpredictable is the weather these days.
If the weather is crap, the event will be postponed. If we get lucky, it will run providing we have some sort of reasonable support.

Very true. Just cause it caught me out the other night – I almost died!
I’m praying for snow so you have to postpone so I can do it another time 😉

Given the forecast for the weekend I am going to postpone the GMBC Hilly TT scheduled for Sunday 28 Dec 2014.
A heavy frost is forecast and the likelyhood of icy conditions on the back roads early Sunday is almost inevitable.
A re-scheduled date will be confirmed later, probably March/ April time.
That’s a shame but a good call. my list of excuses had expanded somewhat too…
