Milngavie is 6 miles north-east of Glasgow city centre so is easily ridden from the West End and City Centre. There are 2 car parks; one closer to the sports club and a 2nd one closer to the road, just beside the tennis courts, and Milngavie train station is about 5 minutes cycle away.  On Tuesday nights, please avoid parking in the car park closest to the hall and hockey pitch as it can be busy with other clubs & classes taking place at the same time.

Tuesday rides leave at 7pm, and Wednesday rides leave at 7pm (Intro ride) and 7:45pm (faster ride), so please be there early enough for the obligatory faffing.  Remember to bring lights suitable for off-road use for evening rides from September through to May.

Rides are generally around Mugdock Country Park and out towards Strathblane (longer and more varied in summer months) and last around 2 – 3 hours, depending who is out and the conditions.

Afterwards, we head back to the Milngavie & Bearsden Sports Club to use the bike wash.  We have access to the club hall on Tuesday and Wednesday nights and head back there for biscuits, tea and banter.

Week day rides are a great start for new members as they will introduce you to club members and give you a glimpse of the type of cycling the club gets involved in. And remember, there is no need to be a member for the first few rides so feel free to come along and see if the club is for you!

Please drop us a line before your first ride so that we can tell you more.

Sundays
On Sundays the club tradition is to undertake a longer ride away from Glasgow area. Previous Sunday rides have been varied from playing at Glentress and Innerleithen to classic routes through Pitlochry and Dunkeld to technical challenges such as the Devils Staircase and Ben Lomond.

Have a look at the Ride Calendar to see where we’ve been recently and what we have planned for the near future.

In most cases the ride will last for the best part of the day and as a rule of thumb you should aim to be at the meet point on time,  ready prepared with bike, equipment and food!

Most Sundays there is also an ad hoc local ride from the club hall in Milngavie. Use this website to find out who intends to be out when.

Weekends Away
Throughout the year the club organises weekends away and has in the past year had weekend trips to Aviemore, Skye, the Black Isle, Mabie & the 7Stanes, and the Lake District.  Accommodation for these weekends is usually bunkhouses/hostels, and they are a great opportunity for club members to meet up and party ride.
