Arran Day Ride

September 7, 2013

Some folk have expressed an interest in heading over for the day on Saturday. So just so everyone knows what’s going on. There are a group of us staying in Brodick, so if you want to join for a day ride we will meet you at the ferry terminal* at Brodick at 8.00am (7am ferry from Ardrossan).

The plan for Saturday is to do the “Arran Classic” loop  (this used to be on the Arran Bike Club website but the site seems to have disappeared without a trace). It’s a 35km loop that takes in some of the best trails that the south of the island has to offer. It’s quite a big day out with some challenging riding, so come prepared. The route passes through Lamlash and Whiting Bay so it’s possible to refuel or use the road to cut the loop short.

The riding is really good on this part of the Island, with fantastic backdrops and amazing sites like Glenashdale Falls.  If the weather is nice then it’ll be a great day out, and if it’s lashing with rain Glenashdale Falls is worth the trip alone.

* The ferry terminal at Brodick has a small area for left luggage, for a small fee (£1 last time I checked) you can leave a bag with a change of clothes in case, to save you festering on the ferry
