Ben Lomond Ride
July 22, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
It’s steep, rocky and potentially midge infested but it’s a classic nonetheless. Involving a big chunk of hike-a-bike upwards from Rowardennan expect a rough, rocky (black + grade) trail with large drainage ditches and rock staircases and switchbacks in places.
Knee/elbow pads suggested (and obviously a crash helmet!!). Pack a spare tube or 2 as we had a few punctures last time. The plan is to ride/push up from Rowardennan car park and see how far we get before we need to head back down – fingers crossed, pretty far up. Sunset is around 10pm just now but maybe take a light just in case we have a mechanical up the hill and come down later than expected.
It’s exposed up there so if the weather is poor we’ll look for a suitable date to postpone to.
We need to start promptly but your reward is a great view (hopefully) and a chance to relive your heroism in the local pub afterwards (so bring beer tokens).
NB: The Google map can’t place the car park too well, but it’s NTS car park at the end of the road, you can’t miss it.
Hi Graham
I should be good for this one, just need to check the diary at work on Monday and confirm.
Nick
Add me to the list + looking for a lift + let me hope that I’ll survive my dentist visit that day…:)
Kryztof, where do you need a lift from? I’ll probably take the car into work and drive out from the city centre after work, so if it’s vaguely on the way…
I work near Cineworld (Tyndrum street) so this is preety much cty centre…
Ok should manage that. I’m probably going to head out fairly early to get past the traffic, then have sandwiches or a chippie (depending on my level of organisation later tonight) near Rowardennan. So could pick you up at 5 on Tyndrum st.
Ok thx. I’ll be waiting for you.
I work here:

BTW
Do you have bike rack on the roof of your car or just I’ll have to take off my wheels and put bike to your car. Reason I’m asking is because last time when we were going to Glentress it turned out that my bike is to big to fit it in the bike rack on the roof of Robin’s car and we had to put in the trunk.
It’ll be going in the boot, if you take the wheels off we might not even have to put the seats down!
Ok,
This is my phone number
