Comrie XC Megaloop

December 3, 2016 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm

Weather & trail conditions permitting, heading up to Comrie to do a big loop of the Strathearn valley.  The full route is 64km but we’ll probably not have time for that.  We’ll probably do more like 40km.  It’s generally a mix of fireroad, singletrack, cyclepath with a few short techy bits added in but these can be walked if you’re not confident.  A hardtail bike will be fine for this ride.

You will need food, water, warm clothes, spares & tools for your bike and an ability to map read if you want to finish early and navigate your way back to the start point.  You’re never more than a few miles from major roads so there are frequent options to finish early.  There may be a cafe stop in Crieff depending on progress, just in case there isn’t bring food.  I’d also suggest a front & rear light in case we come back on the road at sunset.

Meet at Comrie Croft.  NB: the cafe there is closed during winter I think.

  1. Hi Graham
This is right up my my street. I’ll be there……is it still going ahead?

  2. Hi Graham. I’m up for this. Yep, the cafe closes at the end of October. Shop and bike shop still open though. May be a ‘mobile coffee Landcover’ thing, selling cappuccinos etc., but the coffee is tame and flavourless!

Have posted up here on my smart phone, but the comment didn’t appear – WordPress kaput again?

    Cheers – Nigel

  3. Hi Nigel, yes the ride is going ahead. 09:30 start from Comrie Croft. Take food but I’ll see if we can find a cafe stop somewhere in Crieff.
WordPress seems to be working OK. I can see 2 comments from you. Or did you make 3 comments?

  4. Me and Graham will be heading up also. Cheers. Allan
