Dumyat Ride

May 10, 2016 @ 7:00 pm

This ride is weather dependent.  Bring lights (as well as all the usual kit – helmet, water, spares, appropriate clothing etc).  You may also want to consider knee/elbow pads.  Some of the descents are steeper than the usual local trails.

Meeting at the car park near the Macrobert Theatre/arts centre on the Stirling University campus (NB: the Google map pin doesn’t quite show the right location, maybe best follow the signs once you’re on campus).  7pm is a prompt start time as we don’t have a lot of time but I didn’t want to start it earlier to give folks a chance to get through from Glasgow after work.

Is this ride for you?  It’s steep up & down in places.  Sometimes rocky, sometimes narrow.  The bits in-between the steeper stuff are more undulating and typically wider, more open.  I’ve graded the ride as red overall but it definitely has some black sections on it.  They can be walked but we’ll need to keep a constant pace in order to have time to enjoy a good sunset (hopefully) and ride down safely.

    Hi G,

Tuesday looks hot and sunny in Stirling! John and I will meet you, but if there are people who want to come and do a less technical version of this, happy to lead this…. it starts the same, but with a variation on the descent, but then with a great wee bit of single track that is my secret- John has still not ridden it yet. Funnily enough I’m leading from Stirling club on the same ride on Wednesday night…

So, don’t be put off by the word “pads” if you fancy trying somewhere new….

  2. Hi Sam – great, will see you in the Stirling Uni car park.

  3. I’m going to try and get out for this, I’ll keep in touch as work my scupper my plans.

    • Great stuff. The weather is looking good for it! If my ride near a Blair Atholl today was anything to go by then the trails are drying out nicely!
