Monday Meltdown: Hill Repeats

August 18, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Your sanity

Same as last week only I can’t be there… I’ll be there next week for sure, but I thought I’d put this in just in case anyone else wants to do it.  Format is simple, and would be good to keep up momentum on this!

Cyclo-Cross season is coming and whilst I’m not sure how many I’ll actually do, I might as well do some training this year…

So I’m off to do hill repeats to prepare myself for that good old ‘blood-in-mouth’ experience.  Anyone want to join me?  Fitness guaranteed, or your money back*

Tried this last Monday and did the GMBC hilly time trial course but with repeats:

3x Mugdock Village

3x Cuilt Brae

1x Kyber

http://www.strava.com/activities/175691609

Fitness level not important, only willingness.  As many or as few repeats as you want so everyone finishes at the same time on each hill. Gentle spin between hills.

Bring road lights – you’ll need them from 8.45 as we’ll be amongst the trees.

It will be fun, honest!

  1. Training is fun, I’m in! (Work depending)

  2. Is road bike required?

    • Fat tyres increase drag therefore increase pain. Positively encouraged! We’ll just be spinning easy between the climbs so it won’t matter too much tbh. The Kyber is so wrecked that an MTB will likely be faster…

  3. Gd man robin,I should be in… Mtb it is till I until I get road bike..

  5. I’m pretty excited by this. The physio said I should keep off hills for now but I am in the gym every second day and cycling on the flats so once I’ve grown a new left leg I am totally there. So maybe next week (all fingers and toes crossed). I’ve got a cross bike and everything now so really, really hoping I’ll be back on form in time for racing to start.

  6. Oh dear. My bike is in for repairs just now so I can’t make it. What a shame! 😉

  7. Have changed the date on this event for this week! Enjoy without me folks, I’ll be in about it next week 🙂
