Carron Valley/Cathkin Braes Double Header

Like the best ideas it was formed in the pub, with a beer in hand.
My plan is to ride a few laps of Carron Valley in the morning and then head over to Cathkin Braes in the afternoon. It’s been ages since I was up at CV and I’ve not ridden at Cathkin yet so that’s one to tick off. And I’ll be ending up back in the westend for a cold beer afterwards. You’re welcome to join for either bit or both bits. I can offer a lift for x1 from the West End. The routes are trail centre so should be holding up OK in the recent wet weather. Typically red level ability, with the odd black option at Cathkin I believe. If you’re new to biking then don’t worry, it’ll be relaxed with an option to practice stuff if you want to.
Plan is as follows:
- 10am – ready to ride at Carron Valley
- 1pm – leave CV, head to Cathkin Braes
- 2pm – ready to ride at Cathkin Braes
- 5pm or whenever we’ve had enough – leave Cathkin and head back to the Westend for a cold drink

I might try and do the Cathkin ride, car dependent.
Hi grant, if no-one wants a lift out to CV and then on to Cathkin then I can head back through the Westend and pick you up if you need a lift.
I’m a maybe for the Carron Valley. I’ll need to be back at the car about 12.30 though, so might start a bit earlier and meet you back at the car park – is 30 minute blast possible before getting back to meet you?
Hi, I’ll wait until Saturday evening to see who else is up for it and if anyone needs the list to CV. If I’m coming on my own to CV then I’m happy to make it a 930 start, 1230 finish.
I’m on a lads night out in Edinburgh on the Saturday, so some intencse alcohol poisoning and my ageing liver will jeopardise my attendance at this. Nevertheless, if I can get the last train back to Dunblane on saturday night, I will try to make the Carron Valley ride.

I’ll be out to CV at 10:00 would love to make it the double at Cathkin but have a previous family commitment.
Quite enjoyed the laps round Cathkin, bit different to the usual Mugdock spin. Hopefully it’ll hold up well over winter.
Good shout on the CV / CB double. Only made CV but was a good spin out having not been on the bike for a bit.
