Fair City Enduro
October 26, 2013 - October 27, 2013
More details: http://www.muckmedden.co.uk/fair-city-enduro/
This is not a full on downhill race, although all the timed stages point mostly downhill. You don’t need a downhill bike or full face helmet to take part, but knee and elbow pads maybe worth considering. As with Muckmedden 2012, the main objective is having fun on your bike, and at the end of each stage you can wait for your buddies, swap war stories and head to the next stage together. Enduro is a pleasant and sociable way to race mountain bikes, and is very close to just having a ride out with your mates.
As it’s so close to Halloween we aim to get as many people in fancy dress as possible and make a real Muckin’ Spectacle of ourselves! Mountain biking is all about having fun, so why not do the race dressed as a Sausage, or one of those guys riding an Emu? Don’t be shy, look out your funny wigs and mankinis and let’s make Fair City Enduro a day to remember, the Muckmarshals will be making an extra special effort too.
Anyone going?.
Eilidh was talking about it in the pub the other week, sounded tempting but I have plans for the Saturday.
Hi Greg,
I never saw you at the Enduro?
There is a missing digit in your number on my phone – if you could email me the correct one that would be great! eilidh_@msn.com
Cheers,
Eilidh
I feel the need to mention how great this event was. With 300 friendly competitors, the atmosphere was very welcoming and the action packed weekend ran very smoothly.
I arrived on the Saturday with a friend to demo some bikes, swiftly avoiding the air bag event, before heading to the movie night at the Loft where a good selection of mountain bike films were shown. After a good kip we headed to the race at 8am (after a lovely extra hour in bed). The race included 1 short sharp climb, 3 brilliant descents, and a small skills section to complete the 5 stages. It was rather daunting racing a trail blind but all competitors were in the same boat. There is an excellent report here – http://enduro-mtb.com/en/race-report-perth-fair-city-enduro/ – detailing each section. I had 3 small crashes, one on every muddy stage, but still had great fun and managed to place first female senior and 3rd female over all.
Results here: http://www.muckmedden.co.uk/2013/10/27/fair-city-enduro-2013-results/ – a few fellow GMBCers putting in good times.
I would recommend any event ran by Muckmedden to anyone – this one was well worth the entry fee.
P.s. As fancy dress was encouraged, I was dressed as a flamingo.
