Rob Roy Way

December 23, 2013 @ 6:30 am - 6:00 pm

As part of preparations for Strathpuffer myself and Robin came up with the idea of doing the Rob Roy Way. It starts in Drymen, ends in Pitlochry. It is either 77miles or 94miles depending on the route. It’s generally on good tracks so isn’t the toughest riding but should be a good chance to test lights and get some time on the bike.

Rough plan is to leave Drymen early and head to Pitlochry. We’ll either get the train or sort lifts to get back.

If it appeals to anyone come along and work up an appetite for Christmas.

  1. Transport: I’ve had a look at the trains – we are meant to reserve bike spaces in advance by booking tickets and reserving seats or by call in a number in this leaflet http://www.scotrail.co.uk/…/Connections_Guide_May_2012.pdf I’ve had a look at booking tickets on the 19.05 – it *appears* that three bike spaces (not four) are available based on the booking system. With this in mind, can those that have expressed an interest confirm either way so as we can sort travel – if still a maybe no problem, but we’ll plan for the confirmed only.

  2. Update: Tom and I have booked the 20.30 train back from Pitlochry – so we’ll amend the start time accordingly. Weather is looking exciting!

Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
