  2. Hi Alex – like Dene says GT7 is on there tomorrow. Make some phone calls, maybe you can still enter it? Dene, Kev, Ruairidh & his brothers, Stuart, Robin and myself will be there. I’m just about to post a Sunday away ride (Dumyat, near Stirling, if you’re interested!)

  3. Did any one go to dumyat ??? Ps Before I went offshore was up doing my usaul ok hills loop and some one has cut berms and drops into many of the decents down from the slacks they are bonkers and the members should get them selves up there gav and alex no what im talking about ,done the chain reaction marathon was an amasing route and weather was amasing ps I will need to make effort to come out at night when home but go out during day ,what is the score with away rides any idaes ??

    • Yes – 6 people rode Dumyat today. Jacqui, Simon, Sam, Nigel, Gav and myself. And it was a new ride for everyone except me. It was a good day out, a fair bit of pushing involved but the reward is the bigs views, the flowy descents and a cafe stop all topped off with some laughs. Can’t speak for everyone else but I enjoyed it, full sus bike and dry trails will do that. Simon, on his fully rigid V-braked bike with panniers and slicks, may have a different opinion however 😉

    • what route up is that scotty…up humphrey road then head right along ridge then down .Or are you talking about the descent down towards overtoun.

what km did you do on the selkirk marathon.

  4. How come the calender has no ride suggestions ??? I thought the club was going to make an effort to get decent rides on to calender

  5. Seriously?

Fri/Sat/Sun Aug 17-19 Aug – club anniversary weekend away in the Trossachs
Sat & Sun 7/8 Jul – Inverness to Glasgow inc WHW in a day
Wed 6 Jun – Knockie Buckle (planned)
Sun 3 Jun – Dumyat Ride (sorry you couldn’t make it)
Sat 2 Jun – Glen Tilt
Sat 2 Jun – Glentress 7 hour enduro (various GMBC types riding)
    Wed 30 May – OK’s with Gav
Sun 27 May – Carn Ban Mor
Wed 23 May – Dumgoyne ridge
Sun 20 May – Glen Finglas loop
Sat 12 May – Innerleithen & Selkirk loop (45km) taking in some of the same trails you rode at the Mountain Marathon
5-th May – Peak District rides – 3 epic days, big descents, very techy – including Edale, The Beast & Jacob’s Ladder (up!)
Sat & Sun 22/23 Apr – Gleniffer Braes
6-9 April – 4 days in Ballater, big days in the hills, with snow including Mt Keen
Sun 25th Mar – Ben Venue
    Sun 26th Feb – Drumlanrig

And on top of all that, various road rides for those who like that sort of thing, lots of local rides for those who can’t do big away days, organised 4 trail maintenance sessions to fix up the trails after a winter of abuse, a first aid course, SXC and bike orienteering for those who fancy it, various social events and suggestions of Arran, a bothy weekender and Lakes and Torridon trips all being discussed just now – and that’s only since we put the new online calendar up in February!!

If there’s a “decent ride” you want to see on the calendar then you have access to post events on the calendar (it’s YOUR calendar too!) so fire them up and invite your clubmates. Simples. That’s what I did for 45km Innerleithen ride and it was an epic that folks really enjoyed.

  6. just back from a wee jaunt up the old kilpatrick hills.Somebodies have indeed been busy sculpting the descents from the slacks as mentioned by scotty w….superb, need to keep your wits about you for some bits. I went for a shortened version but if you continue all the way up the bitch of a climb towards humphrey then vere off to the right and up along the ridge line(a few months back some members and i went this ridge towards the trig point but you don’t have to go that far before descending) you can still descend the new!! way.
