Scottish Mountain Bike Orienteering

I’ve just added the dates for the SMBO events to our shiny new calendar. There’s one a month until October.

Does anyone fancy giving one of these a shot as part of a team? I’d be looking for a fun day out, rather than troubling the podium. First one I think I could feasible do is Glentress on 15 April.

  1. I recommend Pentlands on 18 March. Did that event last year and it’s a great introduction. Might be up for it again this year if a few folks fancy going through.

Can’t do Glentress (Apr) as away that weekend.

  2. I’m up for this. Sounds like a great way to practice my map reading skills and even if I get lost up on the hills and get no points then at least I’ll have had a day out on the bike exploring some new areas! I’ll have a look at my calendar and update each event if I’m free to head along – probably look to do this in a pair?

  3. This is something that I’d really like to try, definitely for fun rather than in any competetive role.

  4. I would be up for this for a bit of fun. There we go. Two teams of two.

  5. Has anyone signed up for the Pentlands this weekend?

    • Sadly it’s on Mother’s Day, so it’s out for me.

    • Hi John – wanted to but it’s the only day the Ranger is free to do more surveying work for the next trail maintenance day so I’ll not be able to make the Pentlands.

I’m pencilling in the Glentress though (15th April). Not sure how orienteering works at Glentress – do you just follow the red route and collect points?! 🙂
