Velodrome now open – club deals ?

looking at the website :

It suggests that there could be some decent club deals – so could we get enough of a group to give it a go ?

anyone in ‘the know’ on it ?

  1. I’d be interest in this. No idea who to contact. Sam might have some contacts through her work.

I’ll see what I can find out from the venue manager, but I know they are all a bit pre-occupied with snagging and the UCI event next month! My understanding is that for th first few months, the focus will be accredition- ie getting individuals qualified to allow them to to ride open sessions…. its a 4 stage process to prove you are safe, ands includes a mimimum of 20 contunious laps… I’ve seen the programme and as it stands there are mainly slots for the Elite riders. I am sure this will include more open sessions once folk are accredited…. I’ll see what else I can find out. Still waiting for our staff session!!

  3. Here is the link you need to fill in to register for accreditation.

Don’t think there will be any good club deals. It’s £200 to hire out the whole place for a session (plus bike and shoe hire -you need Look pedals though I suppose they might let you use spds, I’m not sure). Expensive anyway. But once you’re accredited you can go join in the Wednesday night track leagues, which should be pretty good fun.

  4. Got logins for me and Jack (aged 9) and went on the guided tour today. Will try and get a couple of accreditations session sorted in a week or 2. They do club sessions where they charge £500 for up to 15 riders to get through the accreditation sessions, so that might be a target for GMBC to negitiate some deals ?
