Velodrome taster session ?

so there is  a bit of chat on the Facebook page about a Club taster session, and a fair number of members have been through the accreditation sessions and ‘have the ticket’.  There are Sunday slots for group bookings, so thinking we could get a slot maybe in March ? – this would probably need 15 people to commit.

I am happy to arrange and will speak to the Velo folk this week about what’s on offer/prices etc.  The drop in sessions and accreditations are around £10 for an hour, which includes bike, helmet (road style only allowed) and shoes (Look Keo), so I’d reckon we would be looking at around a tenner a head.

Post up if interested, and I’ll update on possible dates that suit the majority and are available.

  1. Right, here’s the deal. We can get a ‘corporate taster session’ This has 1 coach and up to 15 riders. It costs £160, which includes bikes, helmet, shoes, so a little over a tenner a head. They are sending me a timetable, from which we need to pick a slot, and they then check what is available….pretty convoluted….. The challenge will be getting a slot that suits, and it doesn’t seem like there is much flexibility. Anyway, I’ll get the info and send round once we have it. Payment can be on the day, but we need to work out how to pay deposits etc, and how to deal with any no shows. ………meant to add, the taster session does not formally count as accred 1, but the coach has the discretion to ‘pass’ riders who he considers capable to go on to accred 2 (although thee people would need a Glasgow Life membership)

  2. from FB page : So far, I think, we have… Ross, Jack, Sam, Dawn, Alan L, Simon H, Ruairidh, Pete and me. Although 2 of us are accredited I expect we would still form part of the 15 but we can circle the track like vultures so another 6 min please and its a go’er

    Iain,
just had a thought- I’ve done the taster session and it was very controlled due to liability etc. I don’t know if they are likely to let those who are already accredited to just go around without the intro. You’ll have done the same. Date in March will affect if I can come as already got some stuff on.

  4. Good point Sam, I’ll ask. I guess for an hr it would be OK for a few accredited folk to either join or even do the photies from the infield. If we get enough who haven’t been before even better tho

  5. OK, numbers on the Facebook post are getting there. Hope to get a date fixed in next few days and numbers and names confirmed.will try and update on here but the FB site is fully up to date. Need another 6 or so.

  6. Chris, will do. Are you on the FB group ? I am close to throwing my Nexus out the window trying to use WordPress on it …..

  7. UPDATE 😉 We have a provisional slot at 1600 on Sun 10th March (only other date was Easter weekend). i need to fill the form in and get in back to them Monday latest, so lets have a roll call. Will also stick this note to WordPress

  8. CUT FROM MY EMAIL :

    Hi Iain,

I am pleased to confirm your booking for the Velodrome on Sunday 10th March from 4pm to 5pm.

If you can send me the list of names of everyone in the group attending along with they’re height and shoe sizes. I can then send this to the Techs for picking up the equipment on the day.

I would suggest being there at least half an hour before the session begins to get everyone kitted out and ready to start the session on time.

The amount of £160 can be paid on the day or a cheque sent for my attention made payable to Culture & Sport Glasgow.

    Best Regards,

SO, I’LL PAY THE £160 AND YOU CAN ALL GIVE ME £10.70 ON THE DAY, ROLL CALL OF NAMES, HEIGHTS AND SHOE SIZES PLEASE (message me on here if you don’t want to divulge !)

  9. We have had a couple of drop outs so there are still quite a few places available. Please post up if you fancy it, letting me know height and shoe size (unless using your own shoes, which need Look Keo cleats)
