Wednesday away ride and leader suggestions

So far this year we have done: Dumgoyne ridge, Kilpatricks, Knockybuckle and Conic.  Are there any other suggestions? Dumayat is on the list but it was done recently. Does anyone know the trails at Cambusbarron or Glenifer braes?

  1. Hi Chris – keep Dumyat on the list, maybe sometime in July for that? Davie Moore is yer man for Cambusbarron, I’ve been once and got lost. Happy to have another go at it though. To whet your appetite:

Other mid-week suggestions: North Third, Carron Valley (zzz?), Touch Hills, Plean, Aberfoyle, Coire Grogain maybe, Cathkin Braes maybe.

    • I will try and get in touch with Davie, but I am happy to get lost if you are. Looks like Coire Crogan/Glen Loin is on the list. I am tempted by Cathkin open day this thursday

  2. Glennifer braes are always in for me – work permitting! Glen Loin at Tarbert is about 2.5 hours max with stops, starting at tarbert, 2000ft climbs and 16 miles, big steep climbs, fast descents – awesome ride, done this last weekend – it’s ‘all weather’ too – maybe good to add soon for long nights? only 45 min from Glasgow to drive.

  3. For Gleniffer Braes, set a date and I’m sure at least one of will be able to attend. I’ve got a couple of alternative routes that I’m sure you haven’t done before.

If your really keen, we’re heading out from Brownside Farm on Tuesday 19th at 19:00.

Brownside Farm car park is off the B774 Caplethill Road between Barrhead and Glenburn, Paisley. Or park in Glen Park car park (park rangers office), off Glenfield Road, and ride out along the cycle path towards Barrhead – the car park is on the right at the end of the cycle track. DO NOT park at the car park in the sky (Gleniffer Braes/Robertson Park) as you will miss out half the ride! Neither should you park at the Sergeant Law car park – unless you’re a bumder!

  4. Yep, I’m joining the Braes bandwagon. I’ll leave Sunny Erskine at 6 and take a wee detour through Dykebar woods (unless they’re still a disaster from the high winds?)

  5. Take your chainsaw if you’re going via Dykebar……

  6. Cathkin Braes would suit the southsiders….
Any other thoughts for tonights’ ride. . . ?
    Simon

  7. I’m heading to Cambusbarron tonight. I’ll try and gpx it if I remember and should then be able to lead a ride there soon.

How about Ben Lomond as a night ride given we have daylight until pretty late?

  8. Sorry guys, can’t make it tonight….
