Looking to get a towbar for the focus and order a nice thule ride on rack. However, not sure of the DIY route now as had some competitive quotes, anyone used the following…
Discount Motoring – Gallowgate
Buchans Towbars – Cambuslang
Indespension – Milngavie
Looking at a PCT or Witter towbar.
I had a tow bar fitted at Buchans about 7 years ago. It is fine they were a wee bit lazy routing cables but I’ve not had any problems. I also got a maxxrax (spelling?) – it attaches to a clamp on the tow ball neck. No problems with it either except to re-adjust the angle of the upright post, the clamp slips over time due to the wind pressure on the bikes.

When I worked in car sales, we subbed out our tow bar fitting to Buchans. I sent an average of 2 cars a month and never once had a problem. They get my vote.
Depends where you live and what is convenient. My vote is for Indespension (Milngavie) – always found them helpful and sensibly priced.
Plus, take your clean bike in the car and drop the car off, go ride Mugdock, come back and try out the new rack c/w with the dirty bike you’ve just returned on ;o)
