Hi,
heading over to Arran for a couple of days next week, and wondered if anyone knows if there is an off-road route from Brodick to Lochranza? Thinking you could head towards Goat Fell, then over towards Glen Sannox…. anyone got an ideas?

I’d drop Arran Bike Club a line. There’s a contact name on the routes page (http://www.arranbikeclub.com/cycling.htm).
Aye, You could, but there’d be a bit of hike a bike in it. You’d need to head along the road for a few miles to Sannox, then turn right and head down to the fallen rocks. From here, there is a coastal path all the way along to Laggan Cottage, where you’d turn away from the coast and up the hill. This would be the hike a bike, probably for about 20-30 minutes, but would be followed by a cracking rocky descent all the way into Lochranza.
All in all, I’d budget about 2 hours doing it this way.

A while ago I rode up Glen Sannox, watch out for the rocks on your chain ring. There was a tough hikey bike climb up to the saddle below Goat Fell, then an easier descent down into Glen Rosa.

Cheers all. Good ideas… I like the sound of the coastal path. I have a feeling that was done by some folks when we had a club trip to Arran a couple of years ago….
Will try Arran bike club too…. Just hoping the weather stays as nice as it is this week!
Yes Sam ditto Greg turn off the road and head to picnic site just after golf club that’s where i went with bongo last year follow path along waterside towards fallen rocks some hikeybikey after rocks.i walked it thinking this would be good for bikes
Well, we have returned from 3 days on Arran with sunburn!
Decided to opt for the Arran Bike Club’s route to Laggan Cottgae but it was reverse of your suggestions. Meant no hikey-bikey, and a lovely finish without the road climb out of Lochranza at the end….. brilliant wee route though.
Managed to get the bikes quite far up Goat Fell- good time to avoid the tourist-trainers walkers!
The sunshine can’t really continue can it?
