2015 Club Tops- Update and for Sale

There are a few folks still needing to pick up their club kit. If you are one of them let me know and we can make arrangements.

We ordered a number of spare tops and these are now available for those who missed the original order. In addition, the manufacturing issue with the short sleeve jerseys has left us with a number of small sized jerseys which are now surplus. As the club has not had to pay for these, and due to the limited number of folk they will fit, they are being sold off at a discounted rate. The available club kit and prices are as follows:

Mens Short Sleeve ¾ Zip  – 5 small (£15 each), 4 medium, 1 large, 1 xx-large, 1 xxx-large (all £41.62)

Mens Long Sleeve full zip – 1 small, 1 large (£59.36 each)

Unisex MTB ¾ sleeve – 1medium, 1 large (£56.30 each)

Let me know if you are interested in any of the above.

As with the original order if you are a paid up member you will, receive a £10 discount on your order. £10 refunds are currently being distributed on Tuesday nights.

 Thanks

Stuart

Annual Club BBQ- Saturday 18th July

Hi All,

A date has been set for the annual GMBC BBQ! A chance to hang out, eat some meat and generally have a good time whilst fending off the midgees.

The annual BBQ is paid for out of club funds, so we need to know a rough idea of how many coming and how much food and drink to buy. Remember, you are also welcome to bring along family (wives, partners, kids etc). and, who doesn’t eat meat!!

Location still to be confirmed but it will either be at one of the outdoor BBQ areas near the Visitor Centre (already booked) or we will see if the Hall can accommodate us.

Start time: 5.30pm, so probably time for a ride beforehand.

End time: gates are shut at 9pm if we use the Mugdock Visitor Centre/you take your car…..

So, whose is in?

The Committee.

*Summertime* Fun?

Has anyone noticed that we have nothing on the club calender for July, so just a wee post to see if we can start some ideas and chatter….. afterall, the weather may actually get a bit better!

The committee is planning the annual Club BBQ as we speak, and hopefully get a date set soon, but what about the social pub run, or the 5 ferries ride? Both have become summer classics over the last few years….

Anyone else got any other ideas for trips or rides?

Dumyat/Mine Woods – Wednesday 17th June

Hi All,

So, to make the most of the long evenings before it starts to turn, i am adding another summer club classic to the calender.

Ride will be suitable to all as it can be varied depending who comes, but it will be a good mixture of trails including some techy stuff. A good chance for some of the newer members to try something different too.

Ready to ride time is 7.15pm, meeting in the Co-Op car park, -12 Fountain Road, Bridge of Allan, Stirling FK9 4ET

Instead of biscuits, there is an option to have a wee pint/half at the local micro brewery too!

will add to the callender too…..

Big Away Ride- Glen Devon- Saturday 6th June

Hi All,

It’s been 2 years since Graham lead a bunch of hardy soles out into the wilds of the Ochils to do this club classic, so putting it back on the calender for this year, and John can even come for once!

The route would start at the Golf Club car park just on the outskirts of Tilly, cycle track to Dollar then up and into the hills, returning to the car park after about 30km and 800m of climbing.  There aren’t any facilities en route to speak of (possible tea stop at a boathouse in Glen Devon).  The post-ride plan is to then head to Bridge of Allan to sample the delights of the chippy or a BBQ at ours if the weather looks ok.

It’s not massively technical as it’s mainly land rover track and open moorlands but the climb IS steep and it’s exposed so pack appropriate waterproof clothing. There is however, about 5km  of very technical riding down to the finish at Tillie.  Once into the hills there’s nowhere to stop for food so pack enough food & water.

Start time likely to be around 10am, and ride will be weather dependant as its all very exposed and not really a ride for bad weather.

Sunday XC Ride?

Folks,

Weather is looking dry, bright and warmer east of the country on Sunday, so does anyone fancy an Ochils XC ride? I am thinking riding from BofA towards Glen Devon on a mix of road and pathways, then heading up and over the hills on a footpath to Auchterader, then heading back via mix of road and tracks pack.

I estimate this will take approx 3-4 hours, distance approx 40 miles.

Or, up for any other ideas, but best stay more east as much drier….

Sam
