Cambusbarron – CANCELLED – RAIN FORECAST ALL DAY

CANCELLED …I’m planning to do a ‘slow to medium’ pace mtb ride this Sunday, starting at the parking area at the corner junction of Quarry Road and Old Drove Road, Cambusbarron – OS Landranger map 57 ref. 773924.  I’m planning to be flexible and see how it goes, but my general idea is to take singletrack, and a bit of B road and landrover track ‘west’, then ‘south south west’ past the quarries, eventually travelling south down the west side of North Third Resevoir to ref.757882 just south of the resevoir.  Then continuing round, and northwards, taking singletrack with various natural technical sections, along the edge of the ridges, to ref. 761905, then back to the quarries.  I’ve done some of this in the dry earlier this year, so I’m not 100% on the route, and I think if damp the rootiness will prove tricky, so can’t guarantee and entire circuit if the going slows me up – shorter options can be decided upon during the ride.  I just need to get out on the bike!

Anyone welcome – please post here if planning to join me.  Definitely bring warm gear, extra layer, waterproof, tubes, emergency first aid kit, spare energy supplement, and food – will be cold and damp.  Happy to hit pub for a quick drink afterwards.  If weather deteriorates badly in the meantime I will cancel.

Cheers – Nigel

  1. OK. When I posted this ride on Thursday night the forecast for Sunday in the Stirling area was dry, but it is now set to rain all day Sunday and the night before, so the ride is not advisable, particularly with a hour drive from Glasgow. Unless the forecast changes more favourably by tonight (Saturday night) I will cancel Saturday night, and edit/post this accordingly. Nigel
