Alpine Bikes Maintenance Class – Wed 5th Dec

** Please note, I have just amended the class times below **

Hi all,

I mentioned this last night at the AGM.  Alpine are hosting another club maintenance night at their shop in St Georges Cross, Glasgow starting at 6.15pm.  It’ll be hosted by Andrew and Jon and will finish at 8.30pm.

There are only 8 places available (two already reserved) and I’m afraid it’s first come first served.  I’ll also post this out via email & Facebook right away.  Don’t worry if you don’t manage to get a place or can’t make it.  We’re hosting another one in January.

So, I need names for those that are keen and a list of areas you wish to learn about i.e. fork servicing, bleeding brakes etc etc.

Over to you.

Thanks

Barry

  1. Hi Barry,
I would be interested. Any tips would be helpful.

    Regards

    Drew

  2. Hi,

I’m interested. Main points for me are to learn about the brakes in general (anything beyond changing the brake pads is beyond me) and aligning the gears (especially the front). Although anything else would be quite useful!

  3. Hi Barry. I’d be interested in this and as above all areas would be of interest.

    Cheers,
    Brad

  4. Hey Barry. If one of the classes was kind of advanced and covered say Brake bleeding and fork servicingl then I would love a place. Otherwise I would leave it to others. Done a 2 week course in London a couple of years ago. This was the only topics that didnt get covered.
    Cheers.

  5. I spoke with Andrew (Alpine mechanic) this afternoon and he will be demonstrating brake bleeding. Andrew will tailor the class around everyones needs. So, just talk to him on the night about any special requests.

    That’s 6 confirmed, so 4 places left.

  6. I’m interested too please Barry, though if there are more desrving cases I don’t mind giving way. Disc brake bleeding/maintenance would be great as it’s a bit of a mystery to me at the moment!
    Phil

  7. Front and rear suspension servicing would be useful too.

  8. Hi Barry – if there’s still space then please put me down for this. Specifically looking to learn some basic fork maintenance. Wrestling bearings out of a headset and a refresher on brake bleeding would be useful too. Thanks to you and Alpine for arranging this, very useful!

  9. Just wanted to say a big thanks to Barry and the staff at Alpine who put on this class. For me it was pitched at the right level and proved to be a worthwhile night out. Particularly pleased with the fork stripdown and brake bleeding demos. Nice one guys.

  10. Seconded! Thanks to Barry & Alpine for this. Loking forward to the hands-on session (sessions?) in 2013.

  11. Apologies for my non-appearance; last minute work commitments. I’ll be interested in going to the next session, but obviously will wait at the back of the queue!
