I’m selling my daughter’s Islabike, as she’s grown out of it.  The bike is like new, and includes fitted mudguards and kickstand.  Bike has not seen a lot of use, has only been ridden in dry conditions, and is well maintained.

Looking for £300 for collection/delivery around Glasgow area.  Bike plus accessories now retail for £427.

Atop the Campsies midweek ride

Plan is to leave carpark beside Big Al’s Wheelcraft / Campsie Glen coffee shop (Postcode: G66 7AB) at 7:45, and cycle/push up behind bikeshop, over Crow Road carpark, up to the top of the Campsies.  Then navigate along the top via Cort-ma Law to Meikle Bin, then loop back and enjoy the long grassy descents whilst catching midges in our wide grins!  This ride is great on a clear night – you can see the Forth Road Bridge from the top.  Riding isn’t overly technical, however does require a bit of stamina to cycle up/push at bits, and parts of the top require a bit of make-your-own-trail riding between the lumpy mounds of grass.  Pace will be as per the slowest rider, so no-one gets left behind!

Bring a sense of adventure, some midge repellant, and the usual spares for repairs and food/water for a few hours riding off the beaten track.

I will leave the Clubhouse at 7:15pm, and have room for 3 more folks/bikes in my car.

Setting off from Wheelcraft carpark at 7:45pm.

Hope to see you there!

Mountain Bike Orienteering “Glasgow Grit” 2017

Come join us on Sunday 21st May 2017 for a bit of mountain bike orienteering in and around Mugdock Country Park and surrounding areas!

Following on from the success of the 2016 event, Glasgow Mountain Bike Club are hosting round 3 of the Scottish Mountain Bike Orienteering Summer 2017 Series http://www.smbo.org.uk/mugdock-2017/, and promises to be a really fun day out.

Last year we hosted around 45 riders, where the age range spanned 50 years and everyone came back with a smile on their face so we will be aiming for more of the same. The course takes in woodland, moors and even a castle.  A mix of walkers’ paths, fire roads, some fun technical trails and hills mean the event is suitable for all abilities whether you just want to have fun or are looking for more of a challenge.

The event will be based at GMBC HQ at Milngavie and Bearsden Sports Club, with ample parking and toilet/changing facilities.  Registration will be open from 9am, and results and prize-winners announced from 2:30pm.  Using the marked-up maps provided, you start at the sports club and try and find as many checkpoints as you can in three hours.  There’s no defined route, and checkpoints vary in distance, location and points!  Tea, coffee, soup and cake will be available, and results and prize-winners will be announced at the sports club afterwards.
