Thursday Ride Anyone?

I plan to go out riding around the Kilsyth area for 4-5 hrs on Thursday if anyone wants to come along. Kilsyth, Banton Loch,Croy, Antonine wall,Twechar, a mix of farm track and singletrack ,fairly easy going with a few hill climbs and descents. Just enough to try and work off the excesses of the last few days. Starting out from the Coachman Hotel on Kilsyth main st at 10am if you are interested.

Tuesday Ride 7th June

Great ride tonight. Slippy, wet , boggy and a laugh. Rocky/rooty then riverside, up the westie , up Rosies and into Clifftop then through the very boggy’Lots o grunts’ before finishing with the windmill track. Acrobatic falls on Rocky(No names), over the bar face plants in the bog(Again, no names) and general slipping and sliding around all added up to a great night out. One of the best nights i’ve had in months. Thanks to all 14 riders who were out tonight,i’m going to my pit with a smile on my face.

Chainsaw Needed.

Last nights run was more of a clear up operation as the number of fallen trees and branches have made a lot of the routes impossible. The start of the run came to a quick stop as a tree blocked the entrance through the bombhole run. We cleared some of the debris but still had to detour around the trunk and headed up the path toward the start of Rocky/Rooty only to be stopped by another tree at the entry into the woods. The 5 of us managed to haul this one out of the way and cut back towards the reservoir and voodoo where we met others out on a run who told us there was a tree blocking the entry at the top of Rocky/Rooty(Not the one that we cleared). At the end of voodoo we went down the embankment to the waters edge and up the path toward v/notch + the climb up through the rhododendrons where we met a total block with 2 trees across the path which we climbed around and made our way up to the top of the hill only to find another one blocking the path. We then left the reservoir to head up snaky, and guess what? yep, another tree blocking the way. After a short detour we headed across the moor and did Jackies ‘root’ and then the full circle of the new(ish) rollercoaster ride which was totally clear, riding well and was good fun. It was 9.15pm by this time and so we headed home avoiding the blockages that we knew about. Hopefully the council will clear most of the paths but we may have to clear some of the routes ourselves. Who owns a chainsaw?

Kilsyth Hills Photos 27/03/11

Alison was volunteered to do the ride report for today but in the meantime the photos can be seen on flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/mnw186f/  I know you can send them direct to my blog but I haven’t a clue how to do it . Perhaps the hall could be used for a club seminar on how to use wordpress by someone who knows what they’re doing? I’m sure i’m not the only one who is clueless.

Baldernock Cycle Gala

Anyone who thought of going to the gala at solid rock cycles in Balmore and decided not to , missed a treat. The Clan stunt team turned up with Danny McCaskill on board and gave an outstanding display of acrobatics. I had only seen the youtube clips of Danny McCaskill, but to watch from 10 feet away was breathtaking, the guy is a genius on a bike and the rest of the Clan were equally brilliant.

Kilsyth Hills Ride

Forecast for Sunday is 10*C, dry and no wind, so good day to get out on the bike and up some hills.Remember the clocks change Sat/Sun so don’t turn up wondering why you’re on your own and if you’re staying out for the full ride, there are no shops for food/drink en-route so bring what you need with you.The views can be fantastic so don’t forget your camera and i’ll be there at 9.30am. Cheers for now.
