Saturday social

Blue sky and sunshine forecast for Saturday, so 10am at the club for those coming for breakfast at the Carbeth Inn at 11am. I phoned the Inn and bacon rolls, tea, coffee, Guinness will be on the menu from 11am. At a rough guess I would think lunch will prob be at the Swan Inn, Lennoxtown about 1.30 – 2pm for those joining later. 🙂

Saturday Social Ride

Short update for Sat 31st. I know the weather forecasts change quickly, but at the moment, this Saturday is showing blue sky, 2mph wind and 20*C, so look out your shades and tan cream and come along for a great day of cycling, chat, food and drink. Everyone is welcome, members, non members, newly joined and old heads. 10am depart from the clubhouse. See the original post for more details and I’ll post up again on Thursday night after a final weather check.

Summer social ride 31st May

Saturday May 31st has been proposed for the summer social pub ride. Usual schedule of 10am depart from the clubhouse heading out the WHW to Carbeth, then Blanefield, lennoxtown, Kirkintilloch, Torrance and back to Milngavie around 7pm. The emphasis as always is on the social side and is a great way to meet members of the club and enjoy food and drink (alcoholic or otherwise) throughout the day. The ride is approx 26 miles off road in a loop making it easy to join or leave at whatever time suits. It’s been very popular in past years with numbers around 15-20 over the day and with the sunshine that we’ll have this year (always the optimist) I’m sure we’ll get a tan along the way. I’ll post up nearer the time but pencil the date in on your diary.

Balmaha Baggage

Lorna is driving up to Balmaha on Saturday and has agreed to take the bags up with her and bring them back on Sunday, probably dropping them off at the new hall for collection when you get back to Milngavie. Its only a saloon car so if you could keep bags as small as possible (No big rucksacks please) then hopefully we can fit them all in. She also has to be away by 10.15am at the latest so try and be there early, Thank You.

SUNDAY 12TH KILSYTH RUN?

I WENT OUT ON SAT 4TH FOR A RUN FROM KILSYTH,AROUND BANTON LOCH,OVER CROY HILL THEN OVER THE ROMAN RUINS AT BARHILL FORT AT TWECHER AND BACK TO KILSYTH.THE ROUTE RAN REALLY WELL WITH JUST THE ONE VERY BOGGY PART(OVERSHOES HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE LOCH WHICH WAS STILL RIDEABLE WITH THE BACK TYRE SPINNING.

IT WOULD PROBABLY BE IN THE REGION OF A 2 + 1/2 HR RIDE WITH A FEW SHORT STEEP CLIMBS/DESCENTS, BUT NOTHING TOO SERIOUS AND THE VIEWS ARE WORTH IT.  IT WOULD BE AN IDEAL WARM UP FOR THOSE GOING TO BALMAHA.

IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED THEN I WAS THINKING OF 10AM DEPART FROM THE BIG CAR PARK AT THE REAR OF THE COACHMAN HOTEL IN KILSYTH.

Social Pub Crawl

The weather for saturday says we should be ok until late afternoon for the pub run with 3 seperate sites saying dry morning with light showers late afternoon and temp’s about 13/14C. If you’re thinking of coming along then 10am meet at usual car park before heading to Carbeth Inn for bacon roll and coffee/Guinness before going over to Blane valley and Swan Inn for lunch about 1-2pm. If the weather holds we’ll go on to Kincaid house, Stables and Wheatsheaf before back to Milngavie for BBQ at Mugdock. I’ll be in car park for the start so hope to see you there.

Saturdays Social Pub Run

There have been a few call offs from some of the regular riders to attend the social pub run which was planned for this Saturday, so it might be a good idea to post your name up if you still want to go ahead with the day out. If not, then it’s hoped to reschedule it for June when hopefully the weather will be warmer and more folks can make it.

Ballater Photos

I’ve put up a few photos from the Ballater weekend on flickr www.flickr.com/photos/mnw186f/ if you want to have a look. I did hit the link to share them on GMBC site but I have no idea where they went. Thanks to all involved for a great weekend.

Ballater clothes

Jack, They are mine. Not surprised they ended up in your bag as there was a mountain of gear lying in a pile by our bunk. I thought you were building a soft landing in case you fell out the top bunk. I’ll get them from you on a Sunday or Tuesday night or leave them in a bag in the hall. Thanks.
