2. Kilsyth Hills Ride – ** NEW ROUTE **, meet at Colzium House car park, 9:30am
“3.5 – 5hr loop of Kilsyth,Croy(Barrhill Roman Fort),Twechar then steep climb to Birkenburn Reservoir, mainly on farm track but with singletrack, hikey bike in parts and on the Carron valley side it is fire rd and takes in the Carron Valley cycle track before coming back over the hills via fire rd, hikey bike and singletrack. There’s some serious hill climb involved but not too technical and if we take up the option of Tomtain Cairn, the views are spectacular and the descent is lottsa fun”
Upcoming Ride:
Sat/Sun April 9/10th – Bothy Weekend, Central Highlands – see email from Chris Johnstone
“This is out the Phil McKane book which is basically 2 loops; Ben Alder 30km and Ardverikie 35km from the bothy. There is a 10km ride in and out of Dalwhinnie about1.5hrs should do it with big pack and no punctures. The options are: to go in on Friday early evening remembering that the sunset will be around 8pm; or in on Saturday, dropping your gear and doing a loop or opening a bottle”
Hopefully enough to whet the appetite there.
cheers,
Graham
