Cycling Mojo

I feel as though I have lost my Mojo for cycling. Just feel as though once it comes to thinking of going out on the bike,I just can’t be bothered and it’s annoys me. Is it the weather, dark nights or just me??

Anyone else had this? What can I do to get my head back into it?

I have signed up for the TSBS Sportive – at least that’s a start.

  1. This looks good, I’ll join you on this. The 100 is tough.

Off to Golspie this weekend after 3weeks off the bike…I feel your pain!

  2. Try a trail centre day? (slightly) drier trails and some instant gratification to be had – maybe use your club membership to get the use of a free demo bike at GT?
Watch a gnarly MTB DVD and pretend you ride somewhere it doesn’t rain.
Pop in some yellow lenses – makes the soggy world look a little nicer!
Head up to the club for a short ride next Wednesday and partake of the post-ride mince pies and mulled wine. Nothing like a bit of social chat to lighten your mood.

  3. The relentlessly foul weather that we’ve had for the last three weeks has pretty much put paid to any riding for me; any day that I’ve been able to ride, whether for fun or commuting, the winds have been gusting >50mph and driving torrential sleet. In over 10 years up here, I can’t remember another single period where the weather has been so consistently awful. It’s driving me nuts.

Now that I have pretty much not ridded for three weeks, with no prospect of doing so over the next two either, I’m not looking forward to how much it’s going to hurt when I do get back on. Hoping to get the cross bikes out over new year to get back into it. Weather permitting…

  4. Been off the bike for 2 weeks and only been in the gym twice this trip offshore coupled with being delayed in aberdeen for 3 days out on the pi”£ I ain’t looking forward to even gentle outing on the bike. Best remedy is get even more pissed doesn’t help bike fitness but you at least feel better at not being on the bike. West brewery tonight for a wedding do… Yahoo.

    • Strange co-incidence here. I’d initially tried to book West’s on Sat 17th for the GMBC Christmas night out but was told the whole place had been hired for a wedding do – the one that you were at. Hope you had a good night. 1 week earlier GMBC were in the same place having a good ‘ole time too.

  5. Yeah the foul weather over summer, the state most of the trails are in, all makes the mojo a bit weaker. Must put on a DVD tonight to get myself in the mood for tomorrow! Hoping for frosty crispy trails 🙂

  6. Don’t worry Alan… I know what you mean. I ride my bike as necessesity to work, but stormy weather and relentless wind and rain makes it feel a bit pointless, sometimes taking a week off then forcing yourself out to ride is enough to get the passion for it again – you’ll love it when your back out there.

Give me a shout for a Southside ride Alan! Pollok or Glennifer, or what about a post xmas blast on MTB to work off the turkey dinner up loch lomond side?
