Fridays Club Social Night Out Report

Hello peeps,

Thanks to all that turned up for the club social night out on Friday.  There are too many to mention but you know who you are and it was a great night out with good company.  I felt the Big Blue was a little small as a venue, but the food was tasty, big portions, they had West Beer and it was very reasonably priced.

It was also a nice change to see more Wednesday night riders out too.  Towards closing time, a group of us headed off to Oran Mor (just in time to get through the doors without being charged), after a few rounds & some silly drunken banter, and not really finding the answer to “how much wood could a woodchuck chuck?” or the theory of relativity.

After Tim, Sam, Davie & Lorna had enough (of us or me I think), a few hardcore members decided to up the game and go clubbing.  With what we thought were free passes to the Oran Mor night club, we headed down, they actually turned out to be queue skip passes which were of no use as the place was pretty much dead.  Myself, Euan Superlight, Eilidh, Robin & Seatpost Dave (others will know him from Tuesday night rides such as “I lost my fullbeam headlamp on Windy Hill”), we all immediately hit the dance floor, where I witnessed some seriously shocking dance moves – I can’t name drop on that one!  It felt like a body pump class that lasted to the bitter end.

Then on departing ways, whilst Seatpost Dave was literally rebuilding his bike on the pavement from scratch, myself & Robin decided to (some would call it showing off!)……I would call it more like teaching, a track standing competition, which ended up with me not being able to reach the pedals on Eilidh’s bike & Robin face-planting in the middle of Byres Road.  He seemed ok, although I haven’t heard from him yet, probably due to a bruised ego.

ps……my apologies if I missed out some names above, I was wrecked.

The moral of the story……….always wear a helmet!  Especially a full face helmet on a GMBC night out!

  1. Sounds like a great night. Good to see everybody working hard to maintain GMBC’s reputation in the community! Was anybody wearing club kit? ;~p

  2. Luckily nobody was wearing lycra in fear of getting a round in. The folk that did commute had glammed up, and unfortunately no club tops were on show. I’m sure we could factor in a prize giving competition on the next night out for the folk that do? 😉

  3. I made it home but managed to lose my phone in the taxi. The driver very kindly brought it back thankfully. My jaw’s still sore, my watch broke but at least the shirt washed out ok….

Thanks for the night out guys – next time I’ll try: a) not to try and cycle whilst mangled and; b) talk less pish (sorry to those who had to listen….)
