GMBC host Scottish Cyclocross Association Race – Round 3 at Mugdock Country Park, Sunday 23 October

The Tri Centre Scottish Cyclocross Series for 2011 starts a week today!! With 9 races on the calendar, Glasgow Mountain Bike Club will host the third round on Sunday 23rd October at their ‘home ground’ in Mugdock Country Park.

Our race has been on the calendar for many years and is a firm favourite amongst racers. We hope to make this year’s race a great success and it would be fantastic to see as many GMBC jerseys as possible flying round the course. So if you’ve never tried cyclocross before (or even if you have), why not grab your bike (MTBs are allowed) and join in this fun and friendly event.

To get an idea of what to expect, have a look at last year’s race report on the SCX website and Marky Mark’s photos for the Senior men, Women/Vets/Juniors and Youth races.

Race times, sign on & practice timings are as follows:

Please get to sign-on in plenty of time. Sign-on will close promptly 20 minutes before each race start time. This is to enable full start sheets to be passed to the commissarie and PA announcer.

There will be queues for each race category and a separate one for assigning timing chips.

YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE THE COURSE UNLESS SIGNED-ON
Helmets must be worn when practicing on the course.

Please take care when warming up and practicing as this is a public facility with dogs and young children on the loose.

There is car parking at the visitor centre, which will probably fill up quickly on race day. There is also the Khyber and Mugdock East car parks which are both within a few minutes ride of the course.

The start/finish area is right beside the visitor centre and will be serving the usual tasty grub.

  1. Not long now, can we get some boardwalk installed so I can keep my bike clean 🙂

I will bring some shed felt and nails for the slimey bridge if needed.

    Cheers, Stephen
