Perthshire Sunday Ride

The weather is looking promising for Sunday so if you fancy getting out into the Perthshire countryside for a big day out of natural riding then let me know (post up here or text me on oh7nine77 0h437oh7.  I’m mulling over a few options.  The snow last week may limit the height of any ride but distance-wise I’m aiming for 40-50km.

  1. 19degrees and sunshine forecast for Pitlochry tomorrow so that’s where I’m heading. Aiming to be riding by 10am. Meeting outside Escape Route cafe & bike shop. The route will climb quite steeply to start then involve some forest singletrack before climbing up to a moor for a descent to Blair Atholl. After that it’s back up to the moor and then a mix of singletrack and fireroad back to Pitlochry. NB: There might be a bit of map faff as I try to find a new (to me) trail. Shout up if you’re interested.

    • Update: Iain has pointed out the Etape Caledonia is on so Pitlochry will have 6000 lycra-clad roadies clip-clopping around in SPD’s from 7am so I’ll be starting from Blair Atholl instead. Should get 3 descents in before hitting Pitlochry and then climb back over to Blair Atholl for a final descent.
