Saturday Cross Bike Ride

Hi.  I’m planning a cross bike ride this Saturday.  Starting from Balloch and making its way back into Milngavie over about 20/25 miles.  It’ll be a sociable pace, i.e. plenty of chat, riding at a pace to suit the group with at least 1 stop along the way and maybe a post-ride late lunch.  The ride is also suitable for mountain bikes.  There’s a few miles of quiet country road to start with but after that it’s mainly gravel track with a small bit of muddy field.  Details of the ride and logistics are in the calendar, here:

The weather looks showery so pack appropriate clothing and bear in mind you may cool down when we stop.  I managed to talk some folks from the Wednesday Intro ride into coming along so post up if you’re interested and I’ll keep an eye out for you in Balloch.

  1. Anyone doing this ride on a mountain bike may want to put some extra at air in the tyres as the first few miles are on tarmac.

  2. I will meet up with you at Balloch for the x ride.

  3. G. What would you recommend psi for x bike tyres for this trip?

    • In not really clued up on CX tyre pressures so I usually have mine far too hard (70psi) but I end up riding more tarmac than gravel. I’m going for 60psi so I’ve got the option to take some air out after the bulk of the tarmac is done. Will keep my eyes peeled for you in Balloch.

  4. What a great day out yesterday! Thanks to Katie, Aileen, Cathy, Scott M, Ryszard, Angus, Mario and Al for the banter and the jelly babies. It’s about 40km back into Milngavie with only a small % of it being on roads. The weather held out and we got some decent sunshine even if the ground was wet. We’ll definitely get a few more crossbike rides in the calendar over the coming months. Watch this space.
