Hi all,
I posted a few weeks ago with regards to the above. I received an email this weekend and the cost/dates have now been confirmed. I think it’s crackin’ value for a fully supported event. For further info including route, click here http://www.thescottishbikeshow.com/sportive.html
Entries open today and if we can put together a group of 6 or more riders, we gain a small discount individually. It’s normally £25 per head, we’d get it for £23.50 and this also includes a ticket to the actual show. It’s being held on Sunday 15th of April and there’s also a 65 mile Challenge ride for the wimps.
So far, I have a head count of four (myself, Robin, Alan Linstead & Stephen Malaney), but I’m sure there are more of you!! Please let me know if you’re in.
Regards
Barry
p.s. Reuben, Ryszard & Gav – come on guys, don’t let the GMBC road train down!
Yes, looks good.
What a nice day the wimps will have- a lovely 30 mile, traffic free, undulating circuit round Loch Katrine plus a nice ride out through Drymen and back. The hardcore will have a dull drag over to Lochearnhead and Lix toll then along to meet the A82. But don’t worry, it’ll be Sunday lunchtime when you get there so it won’t be busy.
Personally I’d rather ride out to Balloch Castle from Milngavie adding 17 miles each way and make the hundred that way. Big group rides, with unfamiliar bunches, on busy roads can end in tears……
I’m up for the shorter route if any other wimps want to join me

Fair comment Simon……you’ve researched well.
My comment about wimps was only in jest, after all, we are only mere mortals in the shadow of a Fred Whitton Challenger.
I’m going to eat my own words and admit that I prefer your plan. I suppose it makes sense, as I’m sure that a majority of the Sportive riders will treat it as an unofficial race and it saves trying to find a parking space at Balloch Castle on the day.
So, I’m +1 for the wimps ride too. Does anyone else fancy this option?
Barry
Sounds like a good plan to me.

Does sound more pleasant – and adding a trip out and back from Crookston may put it over the 100! I will consult with my fellow south side riders 🙂
That’s my entry in for the 65 miler. Stephen – Consult me nearer the time ;¬)
Come on – let’s get the GMBC train out on the road.
