Sunday Away Ride – let’s decide!

Hello all,

I’m fed up trawling through the mud and stopping for trees in Mugdock.  Who fancies an away trip on Sunday?

I haven’t been to Glentress for almost a year, never done Innerleithen but wouldn’t say know to a meander in Aberfoyle…..any takers and/or alternatives?

I have space in the car for one and would like an early start followed by a mandatory stop for coffee and cake at the end.

Cheers

Barry

    Hi,

I’ll be up for something Sunday, and maybe John too. Did GT a few weeks ago, so not fussed about that. We’ve been meaning to show folks some alternative stuff around Aberfolye… this might be the time to do it. Not trees and should all be rideable… plus, Macgregors cafe for cafe afterwards…

  2. Me and Alan L could be takers for GT if it’s on.

  3. +1 for GT – depending on weather and the state of my bike – will confirm Fri/Sat.

  4. If a proper early start I’d be up for GT – maybe riding by 0930 latest to avoid the crowds ?

  5. Sam,

Would be up for a trip round Aberfoyle. Been a while since I’ve been up around there. Not as far to drive as GT either.

  6. Since Sam has a reputation for sleeping in till lunchtime and I wanna be out early, I’m opting for the ride at GT. Current weather reports show light snow & rain over the weekend (especially Sat but clearer on Sun), I’ll keep track of this and make a final decision on Fri/Sat.

If it does go ahead, there’s the option of Gypsy Glen requested by Dawn. I’d be up for this if the trails are frozen as I’ve heard it’s a mudfest when thawed. That can be decided on the day.

  7. Gypsy Glen is best done via Cardrona Forest as the out and back option is definitely a quagmire even in the summer. I was contemplating a trip down at the weekend taking in the traverse to Innerleithen via Lee Pen as well for a fun loop.

  8. I could be up for a Sun run, will check your final arrangements on Sat.

  9. Cool – sounds like there is much afoot in the peebles area – I too will keep eye on weather but will def be out. Not worried about mud as I have just stick my 1.8 mud tyres on which would slow me on the jumps at GT 🙂

    Stuart,
Not going to make it tomorrow as totally choked up with the cold. A bit overdue compared to everyone else’s moans and groans over the last few months!
