  1. A group of us had a jaunt to Carron Valley last weekend and I think that it was a welcome change of scenery, particularly if it is wet.

Apart from Windy Hill and the Whangie, I’m not that familiar with the Kilpatricks, but game for either if the weather isn’t too bad.

  2. I’d be interested in a Kilpatricks ride. Meet at Bowling locks?

  3. Could we meet at the car park behind the pub at the bottom of cochno road, near hardgate roundabout?

Ride suggestion: Go up cochno rd then up the grassy hill to jaw reservoir, along the hill top to green side reservoir. (Option to blast back down if anyone needs to) push up the slacks to trig point then two options:

    1. Ride over the top of that ridge then down past loch Humphrey (queue potential farmer issues and long ride back via road and canal).

    2. Or ride down the front of the hill from trig point (scary), back up fire road (long climb), along ridge in opposite direction (beautiful) back to trig point, ride down the slacks (umm, not sure if its a bit steep, i havent tried. Might be awesome or death defying) then back down fire road to the start. I’ve never biked that route but I’ve run there loads. I reckon that would take about 2-2.5hr.

I will probably ride out. Meet at 6.45pm?

  4. I’ll be along to Bowling Locks before 7. Elizabeth’s idea of a Hardgate start for Tue night ride is a great one but may have to wait until next time to avoid confusion here!
For tonight’s ride, using the Landy track up from the gas works (north end of Erskine bridge) makes a lot of sense in terms of getting up to the tops quickly. Using this hill twice we can do a clockwise loop with great downhill and then an anticlockwise loop coming down the grassy hill to Overtoun. Trust me, it’ll be grand 🙂

  5. Do you not trust me Grant?
I’m not sure how long it will take to ride out so if I’m running late I will just meet you at the gasworks at 7.10pmish
