Club Weekend Away Rides – Any interest??

Hi all,

Not meaning to state the obvious or tread on anyones toes, but just to recap – there are two weekend away rides planned on the calendar, with the addition of Dawns early November away ride.

Firstly, the September weekend of 23rd – 26th, there’s the Pitlochry/Ballater/Braemar ride.  The location is up for discussion, so please feel free to comment.

Secondly, the last weekend of November 26th – 27th, we have the Dalbeattie/Mabie/Ae Weekender.

Finally, we have Dawn organising a weekend away in early November, weekend of the 4th -6th.  See post  http://glasgowmbc.wordpress.com/2011/09/12/long-weekend-in-aviemore/

An early show of hands from anyone interested in these away rides will allow us to organise accommodation.  It’s already getting difficult to find places, the longer we leave will result in not finding anywhere to stay.

Thanks again

Barry

  1. I’m a definite for Dawns early November ride and I’m a definite for the last weekend in November, although I’ll only stay Sat to Sun. I won’t make the September weekend ride.

I’ll have space in the car for one & bike for both those weekends, if anybody is interested?

  2. I’ll be up for the late November weekend, probably just stay over Saturday myself too. Just need to sneak it in to the diary when Starla and Amelie aren’t looking! I’ll give Marthrown a ring for a provisional booking tomorrow.

I can also drive but will happily take a lift if others are driving.

    Luke

  3. Oh and all other things being equal I can take up to 2 others in the car.

  4. I’d really like to go on the Aviemore and the Dalbeattie/Mabie/Ae trips – I should be able to make both. As a new member I’d really like to get out and do more MTBing. I also fancy the Pitlochry/Ballater/Braemar trip, but not sure if I can make that just yet. Braemar sounds great – seems like an opportunity to get into the Cairngorms. Have done a lot of hillwalking there in the past, but never biked it – should be superb.

I’d be happy to chum up and pay towards petrol costs, or if required I have space for one other person plus bike and gear in my wee hatchback.

  5. I’m aiming to go on the Dalbeattie etc weekend.

Is it worth checking the cancellation policy for that one? I’m just remembering the foot of snow on the ground for that particular weekend last year.

It’s a way off, but I’d appreciate a lift down if possible.

  6. I’m open to going anywhere thats happening over the September weekend. Better that anyone who knows routes suggests where to go as I have very little knowledge of anywhere thats more than 10 miles from home. If nobdy is going the whole weekend, i’d be up for any day trip suggestions.

  7. I’ve been in touch with Marthrown about the 26th – 27th November, the bunkhouse has plenty of beds available on the Friday and Saturday, but we’ll need to get deposits down to book it (£4.38 each if my calculations are correct). Cost is £17.50 pppn. The booking can be moved if we are unable to make it due to weather (I’ve got proper ice tyres waiting for another harsh winter – mild winter thus guaranteed – and could lend/give someone my homebrews if they like, should the weather warrant it!)

I’ll send an email out to the group shortly, reply to this to get numbers and sort out payment.

  8. Gareth and I are keen for the Dalbeattie/Mabie/Ae weekender on 26th/27th so count us in for accommodation. Probably just stay on the Sat night. Elaine

  9. Hi Luke,

Sent you a mail – count me in for Fri/Sat night at Mabie!
