Weather for Sunday is looking good, anybody fancy getting some miles in? For those unfamiliar with it, it’s ~20miles around the Ardgarten peninsula, mostly on fire road/forest track, with a more interesting section from the southern end into Lochgoilhead (nothing too bad, I’ve done it on a CX bike), and over the Rest And Be Thankful. Opportunity for a stop in Lochgoilhead. The forecast is for blue skies, and the views are big. I’ll probably take the CX bike again. Tracklog here. Shout out if interested.
I’m keen for this. Was thinking about doing something around there soon!
I will stick my snottery nose out and say I’m keen for this one too!! whats the plan?
OK, sounds as though we have a ride! How does riding at 1000 from the visitor centre sound? I’d say later, but it’s probably ~5hrs and I’d rather not be still out after dark if we have a major mechanical. Will hammer out details tomorrow, I’m supposed to be elsewhere right now.
Is the visitor centre the same place as where the tracklog starts?
I believe so.
Hi there – if you’re doing this ride then can someone try to get as many great photos as possible?? Looking to see people in the scenery having fun. We were contacted by the Park Authority looking for photos to use in route guides and Ardgarten was one of the ones they need photos for. I’m not sure if we’re too late to supply anything but it’s worth a go.
I’ll dig out my camera, although the only shots I ever get are of people’s backsides disappearing over the horizon ;~)
Ryszard, don’t worry I’ll be lagging behind due to a seasonal winter cold!!! Hopefully I won’t pass it on?
I’ve tryed this route before and got lost??? Got some pics the last time Graham, but I will hopefully get some with people in this time.
G, is Arrochar close enough? I got some of those mid September
Probably not. They’d be looking for scenery you’d identify from the route. If you got some nice photos from your ride maybe still post them on the club’s Flickr page (i can email you details on how to do this)
I would be interested in this ride…..I’ll bring me camera also.
Epic scenery, low winter sun, silhouettes, snowy mountains, smiles, elbows out posing on the bikes – these are all good for photographs 🙂
If you’re taking yours, Al, then I’ll gladly leave mine at home for once 🙂
Looks like a good route, I’m in (if I have the car). Although I may take the mountain bike this time after the punctures and adventure over the handlebars on the last CX ride.
I’ll have room for one if you need a lift.
I’ve negotiated the car, so no need for a lift but thanks for the offer though. See you Sunday
That was a cracker Angus
I’ll be there. Was going to head to GT tomorrow but weather not looking promising for getting there.
