Dusty Trails !!!

Another corker last night, with not a speck of mud, just dust everywhere.  Again a poorly attended ride, with only 6 of us out, I guess everyone else was getting their Tiaras ready for tomorrow -)

As the singletrack was so lovely we decided against Loch Ardinning and stuck to the techy stuff, which was riding as well as it ever does in the height of summer, but without the midges.  Best ride of the year so far !!

A wee reminder for those venturing to the dusty Island of Arran tomorrow – Ardrossan for back of 9 to get tickets and board ferry for 0940 departure – bring lots of water and food as we are off the beaten track most of the day, and sun cream -)

Wed ride – where was everyone ???

A lovely night for the select few that ventured out !  Ross and me where there at 745 but as he had forgotten his lights he headed off for a quick ride to maximise the daylight.  So it was me, along with 2 new to the club riders, Steven and Christine.  We met up after half an hour with Pete and Sanny and had a great couple of hours on mainly dry and dusty trails – beautiful night, and still quite warm at the end – here’s hoping this weather stays for a bit longer.

A bit of chat on the posible Arran day trip next Friday (29th) – if we can get a few more people up for it and the weather looks good I think it will be a go’er, so if you fancy it please post up, or mail me :  iain.clow@googlemail.com.

Royal Wedding Ride – Fri 29th – Arran big day out ride ?

I am thinking about this as an alternative to watching the telly all day -)

A group of us from work did this late summer last year.  Quite a bit of riding, some nice techy stuff (if you can ride all of Mugdock you can ride this), and a biggish day.  We went over on the 0950 ferry and just made the 1640 return.  If there is reasonable interest I am ken to do it and having been round before can just about remember the way (and teh maps are pretty good so as long as we have a few printouts..)

Here’s the ferry timetable :  (haven’t checked that there isn’t a reduced timetable due Public Holiday, but will do)

Last time we met at Ardrossan, where we left the cars and went on the 094o and returned 1640, which was just about enough time….. if we are delayed, we can get the later one back.

route wise, last time, we started out from the ferry terminal and did a variation of this, to marker point 6 :

and then tied into the classic route, from marker 3 (which is the same as 6 on the other route) :

a cracking day out indeed.  Post up if you fancy it and we can see what the interest level is.

Summer Tuesday Ride – excellent night

Welll for the first evening ride of the summer that was cracker.  Biggish crowd out, with a good flowing pace and no real delays or mechanicals.  The bombhole was dry and dusty, and the singletrack out towards the Hole in the Wall from the start of Rocky Rooty was as good as it gets in the height of summer.  Claggy John’s wasn’t even claggy !  All the usuals, Voodoo, v-notch climb were all riding a treat and once we got up the park and into Narnia, again it was dry and dusty.  Me and Tim were remarking that exactly 3 weeks ago we rode, well actually pushed, up that trail, pushing ‘cos of the snow.

…and that very satisfying feeling driving home and the rain starts -)
