I am heading down to Innerleithen tomorrow to ride the Golfie. Plan on being there for 10am and ready to ride out shortly after that.

Weather is looking good, been dry for the last couple of days so hopefully the trails will be in good nic.

Trails are awesome fun, mainly black graded natural singletrack decents with fire road climbs to reach them.

It’s steep, rocky and potentially midge infested but it’s a classic nonetheless.  Involving a big chunk of hike-a-bike upwards from Rowardennan expect a rough, rocky (black + grade) trail with large drainage ditches and rock staircases and switchbacks in places.

Knee/elbow pads suggested (and obviously a crash helmet!!).  Pack a spare tube or 2 as we had a few punctures last time.  The plan is to ride/push up from Rowardennan car park and see how far we get before we need to head back down – fingers crossed, pretty far up.  Sunset is around 10pm just now but maybe take a light just in case we have a mechanical up the hill and come down later than expected.

Meeting in the car park at 6.45 for a 7 o’clock ride time.

You now need to pay for parking in the car park so bring some change.

Fingers crossed the good weather will hold out until next Wednesday, should the weather turn bad we will postpone to another date.

NB: The Google map can’t place the car park too well, but it’s NTS car park at the end of the road, you can’t miss it.

Sunday ride at Aberfoyle tomorrow. Meeting in the main car park opposite the Scottish Wool Center at 10am.

Will be riding the “enduro” trails behind Go Ape and around the mast area. These are red and black graded natural trails. Helmet essential and knee pads, elbow pads highly recommended.

Ride is likely to last a couple of hours, plenty of options for coffee and cake after the ride.

Its almost time to get the bike prep’d and get your bags packed.

Just some final things before we go;

Accommodation–

Bunkhouse will be available from 4pm on Friday afternoon. Bedding is provided.

From memory there is a bike wash facility, however i am bringing a bucket and sponge just in case!

Food / Drink –

This weekend is primarily self catering. Sam has kindly arranged an Indian takeaway on Saturday evening (£12.95 includes mixed starter, main, rice, nann and a soft drink. Make sure you bring plenty of supplies closest shop to the bunkhouse is 8 miles away.

The club will be providing Tea / Coffee / Milk and some fruit etc.

Riding Plans –

There are plenty of trails in the area and we are planning on doing various rides to suit everyone. There is still quite a lot of snow around in the mountains at the moment and there is a rumor that “Beast From The East MK3” is going to hit at the weekend! Hopefully it wont come to anything but it’s nothing us hardy GMBC folk can’t handle 🙂 So be prepared for winter riding conditions, plenty of warm clothing and spares etc.

There are some of us up for a ride on route to Laggan on Friday, Dunkeld or Aviemore has been suggested so far, I will post up when I know more.

Hi,

Looking for a show of hands of all interested in the club Easter Weekend away this year (30 March – 1 April ) so I have an idea on numbers when booking accommodation. Currently thinking on something in the Cairngorms area, hopefully that has a mix of trails for everyone. If you could let me if you are interested as soon as possible that would be great.
