POSTING ON BEHALF OF DAWN
Tis that time of year again when I start to ask if anyone is interested in our annual January social trip to the Oak Tree Inn for an overnighter with compulsory beer, bikes n banter (not necessary in that order).
For those of you unfortunate enough to have missed the highlights of the last few years this trip usually involves leaving Stewart Street on Saturday morning and making our way along the West Highland Way to the Oak Tree in Balmaha (http://www.oak-tree-inn.co.uk/) . Of course there is an mandatory tea n cake shop/Pub/beer stop en route in Drymen. See where am going here? Emphasis is on “social riding” J Anyway from here we usually head up and over Conic Hill and descend straight into the doors of the Oak Tree or alternatively you can follow the road to Balmaha making it an easy day out for those that have had too many festive pies or just want to get to the pub quicker! Dinner is at the Oak Tree Inn which sports real Ale and a massive open fire and did I mention that the food is pretty darn good too? The following morning for those that have not drank enough the previous night, head hikey bikey back over conic and while those sporting hangovers and full of breakfast usually take the easier option of the road back to Drymen and along the westie back to the club house.
At the moment the Oak Tree on the Saturday 19th January has 7 twin rooms available (no doubles am afraid) and both bunkrooms are available. The price is £37.50 per twin room and the Bunk Room I is £15 per person. This includes a full English breakfast the following morning.
Anyway I said I’d probably start calling her with numbers next week when we are clear on the prices so you know what to do… let me know if you’re interested. J

I’ve got a twin room too so that means that there is only one twin left but there is plenty of space in the bunk rooms – still room for another 5! 🙂 I think there also maybe single rooms avaliable also. I will need to check.

Adding Sam and John for the last twin room. I will speak to Oak tree sometimes they have rooms which are advertised as single (cos they are much smaller than the other ones) but have double beds so I will see if any of these are avalible.

Hi Dawn – would love to come on this trip, but due to my idiosyncratic nocternal fragility (too much information!), a single room would be just the ticket for me, if, as you say, they have one available. Many thanks for organisaing all this.

option 1 drive to balmaha ride back along westie till meet team ride back to balmaha beers???cafe stops grub banter drive home lateish own bed sober.!!!
option 2 as above but sleep in car wouldn’t be the first time. enjoy beer(not as bad as you think with a decent sleeping bag 3/4 season), not sober
option 3 as above but tent up again not as bad as you think……not sober
a few ideas for anyone who cant get digs .still enjoy a good dayout.
down side no ride back to milngavie on sunday.

when on booking could you ask if they would mind a few tents in the garden I doubt it but you never know.

Ieva, Neil and Nigel I have managed to get avaliability for two single rooms (Nigel i know you wanted one of these so you’re in if your still interested!) and a quad room.
So Neil, Ieva your in if your still interested! I can accomodate antother two people also for bunkroom prices! There is also family rooms avaliable with a double bed and bunkbeds etc shoud all work out about same price. Let me know if anyone else is interested and i’ll try organise!
