Campsie Hill Climbs – Sun 19th Feb: 10:00 (at Clachan of Campsie)

I am keen to get some local hill climbs in this Sunday morning. My plan is to start at 10:00 prompt at Clachan of Campsie and do some repetitive hill climbs using Clachan as a base. Firstly, planning a warm-up on the old railway line then up to Lennox Forrest (Landrover track up nr Station Road), descend via the Celtic training ground and return to Clachan. Secondly, climb up Landrover Track at Knowehead Road as far as is sensible. Thirdly, climb to Crow Road car park on walkers track, continuing to sheep shelter on the hill and possibly to cairn (although unlikley as kink in frame means seat post won’t go low enough and shorter seat post is not an option), and descend back to car park the same way. After that, we can think about more climbing, but another ride along the old railway line would be better before jumping in the car. There is a cafe at Clachan of Campsie and I have been told that the Swan Pub in Lennoxtown does some decent stuff. If you leave your car at Clachan then you can keep stuff there. The ride is not everyone’s idea of fun but is a time and cost efficient way of getting plenty of climbing in. The distance covered will not be huge but plenty of climbing is the aim and we should never be too far apart. Alison is planning to be out too. If there is snow, we won’t be there. Let me know if you fancy it. Gerry (Zero Se7en Eight Eight Uno Six Thr3ee Four Uno Four Fi5e)

  1. Gerry the Punisher!!!

I’d love to join you, but thankfully I have a valid excuse. I would be up for this in the future though 🙂

  2. The snow has disappeared off the forecast, so I’ll be there.

Can offer a lift for one from West End / Milngavie area if anybody needs one.
