This could be good news: looks like approval for an outdoor centre and bike trails in lennox forest has been given. There’s a Facebook page about it now but I can’t paste the link on this bluddy Android tablet…

Firework Ride
Don’t forget the firework ride this Wednesday (2nd November).
Bring as many fireworks/sparklers as you can fit in your camelbak (or panniers if you’re feeling particulalry burny), and join us for a ride out to a mystery remote spot where we can let them off accompanied by some hot dogs and mulled wine (courtesy of GMBC).
Non (paid up!) members will be pushed off a cliff and/or burnt in a large doll fashioned from wicker.
Hope the weather’s decent!

Club Clothing Order Update
Hi all,
My apologies for the delay. Behind the scenes I have been trying to contact the owner of the company creating our tops. After several emails and one strongly worded complaints email, we are back on track with the order.
I have spoken with the owner today and been assured that I will have the tops in hand by the 22nd/23rd of November….just in time to hand out at the AGM on Wednesday 30th.
So, if you’re coming, please remember to bring your money and membership fee. If you can’t make it, I’ll keep them handy and give them out on Tues nite rides.
Regards
Barry
Halloween ride / BBQ
Just spotted the Halloween ride / social / BBQ on the calendar for tomorrow. I’ve not seen any other mention of it, is it still going ahead?

Places are free but limited so please apply early if you would like to come to one of the talks, details of each one are here.
GMBC police chase
14 of us heading out across Voodoo hill last night, and as we made our way down the steep gravelly trail by the waterworks, we attracted the attention of a police helicopter that followed us for 10mins, searchlight giving our lights a run for their money. Quite a rush, hacking down singletrack in the dark, with a chopper thunderously hovering not-very-far-above, and dodging the searchlight through the trees.
Scottish Bike Show Sportive 2012 (Roadies)
Hi all,
After the success of the first Scottish Bike show that took place this April, they have decided to host another. But this time, they’re introducing a Sportive that runs alongside the show.
I signed up to be kept informed of any updates and received the following info below:
TSBS Sportive News…….. |
Dear all The inaugural Scottish Bike Show Sportive 2012 will take place on Sunday 15th April around the beautiful scenery of Loch Lomond and Loch Katrine to kick off the start of the sportive season! We are happy to announce both routes for the sportive have been signed off by the local Loch Lomond authorities. The 65 mile challenge ride and the 100 mile sportive will be available for entry within the next couple of weeks and we promise you will be the first to know when the entry is live. Your entry to the sportive will also gain you access to one day of The Scottish Bike Show of your choice.
*Group booking rates will also be available for 6 or more riders. Full entry details to follow shortly. With Balloch Castle proposed as the start and finish point, the routes will include timed rides, steep climbs, feed stations, bike maintenance points and plenty more to ensure a great ride. Fun for the family or the serious sportive rider, why not let your friends and family know about the first ever sportive ride around Loch Lomond and kick off the season with a bang. |
At £21/25, it’s crackin value compared to the Trossachs Ton & other high profile Sportives. It’s even better value considering they also charge £10 to gain entry to the actual Bike Show and that’ll be included in the price!
I think a show of hands at this stage, in preparation for the entry day would be a wise idea along with the fact that we’ll gain a group booking if we’ve 6 or more riders. I’m assuming due to the value, route and that it’s a supported event, the places will fill up very quickly.
I’m in, please let me know if you’ll join me!
Cheers
Barry
Glasgow 2014
Just a heads up to let you know that you can register on the Glasgow 2014 website(www.glasgow2014.com) to get notifications on Tickets. I want to try and get some for the velodrome, unless as a club there are pre-allocations distribute…. or there is someone on the inside that will be able to get them.
