Glentress 7
Pretty much following on from Graham’s post on riding goals for this year, I have been thinking for a while about doing an ‘event‘ to provide some kind of focus to encourage me to ride more, improve my fitness and just to do something different. I have looked at 10 Under and the Selkirk Marathon. Following on from Dene’s previous posts about the Glentress 7, this sounds like the kind of fun event that could be suitable for this first timer. Not too long, not too far away and, I suppose, not too expensive.
Google the event for details however, it takes place on the Saturday 2nd June. 1 week after 10 Under and 2 after the Selkirk Marathon. Entry Fees are noted below:
Solo Entry Price: £40
Pair Entry Normal Price: £70
Trio Entry £85 Normal Price: £100
Who’s up for completing a pair or trio. If you know me you’ll know I am no racing snake so while I will be riding as hard as I can I intend to treat this as a bit of fun. Saying that, who knows what happens to people when they are given a race number.
So who’s up for it.

Count me in! I’ll do it as a trio with you, but I’m not camping! I did 10 under last year and can’t be bothered with chasing my tent in the middle of the night and trying to race on 2 hours sleep. (queue comments about manning the f$%k up!)
I’ll head down on the morning, although I might crash in the car overnight if there’s a big party afterwards.
You okay for registering me and I’ll square you up, or can I enter online myself (but part of the trio?)

As far as I can see a team is entered as one unit with the individual team members details entered as part of the single entry. I am happy to do this once we have a third name confirmed. If you are doing Gerry’s Carvery ride on Saturday we can have a chat about it. This might give Grant a chance to confirm or otherwise.
I know what you mean regarding camping. Not my bag either. Might drive down that morning or look to book a B&B if my family are coming down.
Any other takers? We could have more than GMBC entry.

Robin, You are absolutely right, Barry is a big Jessie :).
I might add I will not be camping either, Peebles Hydro is doing a Bike Special over that weekend. Single room £49 B&B. Access to swimming pool and sauna and the deal clincher Giant Chess. My decision will be informed by the presence, or otherwise, of the rest of Team Harrow.
That does sound a good deal, although you staying over the Fri to Sat, Sat to Sun or both?

FYI, I’ve now added the event to the calendar. The event itself has comments boxes at the bottom if you want to use that space to get organised with lifts/camping/teams etc.
I might be up for this event, mulling my options at the moment.
