Menteiths- Ride Report

So, I am going to keep this short n’ sweet….especially as most of you know this route.

12 hardy soles decided to brave the micro-climate of Aberfoyle (it seemed to be sunny everywhere else) and set off on the usual route clockwise. As well as some new faces who have been enticed via Facebook (Jim and Thomas) we were also joined by a GMBC newbie, Neil, who would have been in his right to complain to trade descriptions…. it was not quite the introductory ride as described.

I think it was fair to say it was muddy, very, very muddy. Muddy to the point of walking  being the only option through some of it!

The single track descent at the top of the wee loch is now closed due to extraction, but we skipped under the red and white tape and went for it anyway. All rideable with the exception of a carry over a few logs. Looks like the whole of this area will be felled soon, so not much hope of saving the single track.

After a wee cafe n’coffee stop at Brig O’ Turk cafe, decided on the fasted route back up and over the 3 drives road, back into Aberfoyle feeling wet, a bit cold, but very happy! Mud makes you smile.

Oh, and the damp weather has brought the midges out already…
