Old Kilpatrick Hills Ride on Wednesday (30th) at 7pm

Lately a few folk have expressed an interest in doing an Old Kilpatrick Hills ride. I’ll be doing an OKs loop on Wednesday, so if you want something a bit different from Mugdock then come along!

The ride will be approx 2 hours long, meeting up at Bowling Locks car park at 7pm (meet point is marked up on the map attached). The Glasgow to Balloch cycle path goes right past it (at the Magic Cycles bike shop) – for those of you who’d like to extend their ride by a few miles, or Bowling Station is another option.

The intention is to go up the fire road starting at Milton Brae, past Loch Humphrey and down a cracking twisty, grassy downhill that spits you out near the Erskine Bridge. Option to then return via cycle path, or if folk are feeling fresh, head up to Loch Humphrey again and down a cracking fast dirt trail to Overtoun House.

Hope to see you there,

Gav

  1. Ive taken down my suggestion for this wednesday at Knockie Buckle, we can do it another time.

  2. Ooops – didn’t see your post Chris! Knockie would be good on a dry day too….

  3. Sounds Fun, esp if the weather holds. 🙂

  4. Sounds good. See you then!

  5. Count me in! Posted the ride on the calendar too.

  6. Gab,

Tony and I shall be there.

  7. Hi Gav.

    Cheers.

    • Hi Allan,

Not meaning to put you off in any way but……this is a tough ride if your completely new to cycling/mountain biking. I did this as my 2nd ride with the club and really struggled.

If you already have some ‘cycling fitness’, definitely give it a go. Otherwise, I would attend the Tuesday 7pm ride or Wednesday 7pm Intro ride, both starting from the club car park in Milngavie.

  8. I think Alan and I may be there, weather permitting… 7pm is a bit tight but fingers crossed! 🙂

After 10 under the Ben on Sunday in a 28c heatwave, this may seem a lot easier – hopefully.

I am a pretty expierenced rider who although hasn’t ridden in the last 10 days should be fine. Live in Erskine so this route is well known to me. Thanks for the concern!.

  10. Sounds good, always fancied the OK hills…I’ll try and get thee asap after work!

  11. Well, that downhill at the end was blummin brilliant. Bit scary in the wet though – brake if you want to go faster!

  12. Thanks GMBC for making my intro ride a success. I qualify that by saying when I return home injury free. C u on the next one!
