At the AGM (meeting minutes available here) we agreed to restart path maintenance with the Mugdock Country Park rangers. We’ve done work with them in the past (you can read more in the Responsible Riding section). The idea would be to have a few half day sessions at weekends as we head through Spring.
However, we need your help so we’re looking for volunteers to give up a small amount of time to help, in whatever way you can, to look after the park that we get so much enjoyment out of. We’re needing help with the following:
- Managing the maintenance work
- needing 2-3 volunteers max.
- Involves; taking a small group of workers to an area and making sure the work is done safely and as agreed, discussions with the rangers on which areas to work on, deciding priorities for work and suitable solutions. You also have the chance to get your hands dirty.
- these volunteers are invited to an initial meeting with the park rangers this coming Sunday (17th) 1:30pm at Mugdock Visitor Centre.
- Labouring only
- needing as many people as we can get.
- Involves; the physical work, digging ditches, moving dirt, clearing drains, laying new paths etc. Despite the work it’s great fun and a chance to get a warm fuzzy feeling. You can take part in as little or as much work as you have the time/are fit for.
We can’t stress enough how much of a difference this makes to Mugdock Country Park and it’s great for the reputation of all bikers in the local area so please get involved.
