Sunday 18th May – XC or Road?

Hi Folks,

Planning to head out for a ride on Sunday 18th May, but thought I’d see if either of these are appealing to folks before i stick on the lCallander.

Option 1- Mentieths- Classic GMBC ride starting from Aberfoyle that’s not been on the Calender for a while. Will be muddy but that’s half the fun! Could extend over to Loch Venacher and check out the newly opened track to Kilmahog. (its lovely)

Option 2- Loch Katrine Road Ride- starting from Aberfoyle in reverse. Could extend this to include the new section of footpath that follows the Old Military road to Inversnaid. I’ll be on my cross bike, so no need for a road bike!

Option 3- Ochils/Dumyat alternative – Head out of Bridge of Allan through Mine Woods as usual, then continue past Dumyat. This loop goes around the back of Dunyat mainly on tracks with some XC, then sweeps done into Menstrie.

As you can see, I am keen to get out, so if you are interested in any, state your preference!

  2. Sam,
Graham and I were talking last night about a ride out at Aberfoyle as it offers the opportunity for various rides for different abilities. The Mentieths would get my vote.

  3. Hi Sam, would be keen to do the road ride and check out the new path at some point, probably won’t make it tomorrow though.
