Sunday Ride – suggestions or follow the crowd?

Hi all,

After a brief discussion with some of you at Glentress, we discussed this Sunday’s ride.  Anyone fancy Aberfoyle?

Sam is always eager to get us over there, as she gets a long lie in and knows the trails well.  (that’s if she’s free this w/end?)

The current forecast looks cloudy but dry and I’d be up for an early start, say 9am.  I’m not wanting to be out all day and rolling home at 5pm as I’ve got stuff needing done, so would be keen to finish up around 1pm.  I have space in the car for 1+bike.  Anyone interested? Any ideas on routes which would determine meeting point?

I’m also out tonight for an earlier start if anyone cares to join me? I’ll be aiming to be ready at the club carpark for 5.45pm and plan to head back to meet the 7pm starting bunch.

Cheers

  1. So is that 9am for 10am as per last Sunday? Ha! Ha! I have to say I was surprised 9albeit pleasantly so) that you guys were still getting ready when I pulled into the car park at Glentress on Sunday at 10.15. Looks like the spirit of club pre ride faff is alive and well!

Sounds like your ride was a bit more incident packed than ours. I’ll get round to a ride report this evening. Sea King helicoptors are right up there on the cool wall but I don’t ever fancy having to take a trip in one. It must have been a pretty nasty crash for an HMS Gannet call out. Any word on the lad who twatted himself?

    • Yes….indeed the pre ride club faff is still a regular occurance. I need to admit that I am normally one of the faff brigade, but this time the numpty responsible shall remane nameless to protect said persons identity from some lighthearted abuse tonight. The individual forgot to pack their helmet & turned back at the half way point……not realising that Alpine probably could’ve supplied one. Lesson learned I’m sure……I’m really lining myself up for getting slapped tonight;-)

I don’t know what the outcome was for the injured guy. I’m no doctor, but I reckon he won’t be doing that again in a hurry. There was a thread about this on ST yesterday, I added my tuppence worth, one thing lead to another and hence the reason for the First Aid post.

  2. I’m still up for for a trip to Aberfoyle if Sam and / or John want to show us around some favoured trails.
