Trail Maintenance Update

Just a quick post to keep you all up-to-date with what’s happening with trail maintenance.

In the middle of January we had a survey day with the Ranger and some guys from Meet Up where we walked the Riverside trail and made detailed notes on what maintenance work to do.  We’ll be using this on the first proper maintenance day which is this Saturday where we’ll have approx 30 folks out (from Meet Up, GMBC and Rockhard) doing work on the trail!!

The work will include digging ditches, pruning, clearing fallen trees, re-routing sections of trail and blocking off badly eroded sections.  If you happen to be on the trail in subsequent weeks (assuming it’s dry/frozen of course!) then please be aware that it might look a little different from the last time you rode it and try to keep to the trail that’s been cleared.

As part of the maintenance day we’re hoping to survey a few more sections in preparation for the maintenance days in March (10th and 24th), probably looking at Rocky Rooty and up to Drumclog car park.

The folks who have volunteered previously should now all have an email from me with the details.  Given the number of folks we’ve already got I think we’ll be fine for this Saturday but if you’re interested in the March sessions then let me know and I’ll get your name on the list. Hopefully we’ll get some photos posted to show you the good work that we as a biking community are doing for our local park.  Watch this space!

Cheers!
